Made the appointment at West Covina Nissan and had it done this morning. Great service, done on schedule, totally uneventful. $30. Everything checked out o.k.

Knock on wood, I hope the car remains issue-free.

Yes, there are closer dealers.

Our choices:

Based on personal experience we will NEVER have anything to do with Empire Nissan or their service department again.

Metro Nissan is very good.

We spend a lot of time in Covina with family anyway (my wife and I both grew up there). West Covina Nissan has already built up a stellar reputation among our friends and family in that area, so we purchased and will get the vehicle serviced at WCN as long as they keep treating us so well.

There might be some other excellent dealers in this area, but we've lived here for 14 years and the only other dealer with an excellent reputation and proven service department that is truly trustworthy that we know of is Penske Honda. The wife really favored the Versa over the Fit.

did you go with the 3750 mile schedule or 7500?

you got a good price, edmunds inside line got charged $90 for their long term versa's first oil change.

"Last week, our little Versa finally made it to Santa Monica Nissan for a slightly belated 7,500 mile service appointment. (Hey, sometimes even the pros fall behind!) Included in the service was an oil change and a tire rotation. They also inspected the exhaust, steering, clutch, fluids, and brakes.

Cleared and headed back home with a clean bill of health in just a few hours, the visit cost us $89.95.

Mike Magrath, Vehicle Testing Assistant @ 10,107 miles."

Wow, you guys have some nice dealers in your area. All the dealers around here charge a minimum of $50 for scheduled service (closer to $100 for most) and they certainly don't offer loaner cars.

I did the 3,750 scheduled service at 3,350 miles. The car's been run in this 100+* heat wave with the a/c on constantly so I jumped on the service a little early.

They signed off on the "Schedule 1 Maintenance" and "Premium Maintenance" sections on Page 13 of the Service and Maintenance Guide that came with the car.

Basically it was an oil and filter change with a cursory inspection of some other things.

The next service includes tire rotation and inspections of more items than this service so I know it will cost more. I'm thinking $70 or more since it's dealer pricing we're talking about.

No loaner needed since this service only took a little over an hour. I just went next door for breakfast and killed the time over a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.

At any rate, I'm glad to hear you didn't have any problems. Here's hoping I get the same outcome when I take my V in for service this weekend.

I guess I should explain... my work days are very full with court and interviews and reports and mail to pick up and NCICs to run and so on and so forth... I usually can't spare the time to wait at the dealer... I did for my first service (took lunch there) but after my trip, the V really needed a service and I had a lot of vacation time to make up for... ;oD
