First of all, being retired with not many places to go I have a very low mileage Versa. I purchased it in January and when I received my 3-months service notification from the dealer I had something like 350 miles on it. I called the dealer and he said not to come in. Then a couple of months later I received the recall notice for the passenger side air bag mechanism. When I received my 6-months service notice from the dealer I called them up to kill two birds with one stone. I called the dealer and scheduled an appointment for the service and the recall repair. The person I talked to said, "What recall?" He didn't seem to know anything about it but told me to bring the car in a week from then. The day I brought it in the car had 684 miles on it. Later that day when I picked the car up the service guy told me they had to order a part for the recall repair. He also told me that the first oil change was complimentary. I went to pick up my receipt at the service desk and they told me there wasn't any. I expressed my concern about not having any proof that an oil change was done and they said, "That's okay, it's in our computer."

This was back on July 30 and I still haven't received any notification that the part for the recall notice has been received yet. They also kept my recall notice and I have nothing showing that I received a recall notice.

Should I be worrying here? I have no record of bringing the car in for a 6-months service, which I think just boiled down to an oil change and I have no record in my possession of having brought the car in for the recall.

That sounds fishy. Even when my first dealer put mud guards on my first V for free, they wrote up a work order with an amount of $0... but it described what was done.

As far as recall notice, you should be able to go to any Nissan dealer and if the recall has not been performed, they should be able to look up the VIN in the system and see that it hasn't been done.

I would, however, put in a call to Nissan North America's consumer affairs department to explain what happened. Perhaps Nissan will poke your dealer into action...

THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONTINUITY CAUSING THE OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM TO BECOME INOPERATIVE.<<****************************************************Thanks for posting. Yes, this is the recall notice that I received. I suppose my real disappointment with my dealer is that he had a week's notice that I was coming in for this recall repair and then when I leave the car off nothing is done because he doesn't have the necessary part. I'm thinking now that maybe they held off doing the six-month service until they receive the part for the recall service, but then again why would they do that if they had the car in the shop and could have done the 6-month service that day? But I suppose these are questions I should be asking the dealer instead of here. Also, when I go back for the recall service I'm going to demand some kind of receipt for the oil change that they did so I have some record of it. Thanks to all who responded.
