First Road Trip - Think I'm doing 25 MPG (conservative)

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Finally, today ... I had the chance to take my EX35 out of town to Myrtle Beach. I topped the gas and already did 200 miles. What's amazing is that I've done 200 miles for this trip and my gas gauge is well above the 50% line of the fuel gauge. So I think I've eaten up no more than 8 gallons.

So conservatively, 8 gallons on 200 miles is about 25 MPG.

My speed is around 70 - 80 MPH. Top speed for this trip is 92 MPH according to my GPS. I'm still in the break-in period so nothing more than 100 MPH.

So I'm happy. Drives like a dream. I've tested the Audi Q7 and frankly the EX35 rides like the Q7 on the highway, but faster and meaner on the road.

And if I want some power, I just nudge it to the DS mode and it pulls with no hesitation. Frankly this is better than the Audi S4 Avant in ride, speed and gas mileage all combined.

To get a more accurate reading of the MPG, you need to top the gas again and see how many gallons it takes to fill up. The fuel gauge is not that accurate.

Actually, it's quite funny because the fuel gauge needle dropped clearly below 50% when I refilled the tank before my trip. And the tank only filled up 9.3 gallons (not even 10 gallons, which is suppose to be half of tanks capacity). And I really filled it up the the hilt. So there was really more gas below the 50% mark.

So now that the needle is still no where below the 50% mark and I've hit 200 miles, so I just assume that it has only eaten up 8 gallons.

Anyway, I will keep everyone updated once I fill it up again. So I can get the a more exact mileage. It should be in the next few days. cheers.

We've just completed our second round trip from Beech Mtn., NC to Long Beach Ca., and back. We have averaged, overall 26.2 MPG. At the higher altitudes, had had segments that got as high as 28.5 MPG. This was driving the posted limits at all times, on I 40. We've found this to be a great cross country vehicle for just the 2 of us - good entertainment, great nav system, reasonable mileage.

I find that the average MPG function on the gas is very accurate for me...I tested it for the first month and it was within an acceptable amount of accuracy for me. Now I base my MPG's soley off of it and check it every few fill ups to make sure it's not way off.
