Unfortunately wishing and hoping doesn't make it so. You must verify either with service history records or better by a direct inspection.Hogg wrote:Would that have the timing chain guides replaced already? I really hope so - Im hoping to buy this one!
What the hell is up with the highlighted statement? Sub-zero winters and road salt are probably a lot more detrimental to a 15-18 plastic piece that's subject to extreme cold and heat then to our more temperate climate. That guy is a weirdo. I bet a Canadian guide is probably more brittle and susceptible to breaking than its US counterpart of a similar age.lino wrote:Almost no Canadian cars have had the guides replaced. I've been to more than half of the Infiniti dealerships in Canada and I was not able to find one that replaced the guides. I've brought the subject up with every parts counter and service department and the closest I got was " That probably only happens in the US because of the climate".
So like manix says, check service records. If you don't see it, then chances are real strong that it hasn't been done. Don't rush your purchase and check back here if you find a car you're serious about purchasing. There is more Q knowledge here than anywhere else and everyone is super friendly.
Best of luck!
If road salt is in contact with chain guides there might be other issues with the engineHaitian_King wrote:
