Hi Everyone...Just signed up and wanted to say hi. I've been driving my 1999 Jetta since I bought it new in August of 1998. Just waiting for something major to go wrong so I'd have an excuse to upgrade. Amazingly, nothing went wrong. 180K and still on the original clutch.

So...what the hell...I decided to get a new (used) car anyway. Infiniti never even crossed my mind. I've always had good luck with VW, I know a lot of people don't. My wife and I were out shopping for Jettas or (maybe if we felt like going a little crazy) Passats and we stopped at Carmax. That's where I first saw the G35x. My wife, who's a little tighter with money than I am, was like "no way". But, I went over an took a look. They only wanted about 20K for it. It was an 06. Looked beautiful. But I let her talk me out of it. We left without speaking to anyone.

The next day, I was at work and I kept thinking about it. So, I figured I'd call and maybe take it for a spin. Sadly, less than 24 hours later, it was sold.

Anyway...My curiousity was seriously piqued at this point and I started doing some research. I quickly became hooked and amped up my efforts to find one. That's when I found this baby. 2006 G35x, Silver (my favorite car color), 42K...Mint in and out. Got it 3 weeks ago for $18,700 and my 12 year old Jetta. Man...I waited way too long.

Now I hope I can just get this picture posted correctly. :)

Welcome to NICO

You didn't mention whether your Jetta was a Diesel but I got close to 200k miles on the clutch in my 1980 Diesel Rabbit. The oil pump failed at 246k miles in 1994 and I sold it.

Good luck with your G

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone...I'm loving this forum already. So much great info.

I feel like a new father...Trying to do everything just right out of fear I may break or ruin something. Already driving my wife nuts...we don't park quite as close to the grocery store as we used to. ;)

You are still under warranty so I would suggest making a list of anything wrong and introducing yourself to the local Infiniti dealer. I'd also have them pull up the vin to see what has or has not been done to the car since new, might be insightful.

Let us know how things come out. I use two different dealerships dependent on where I am and both are great to deal with.
