I just bought an 08 coupe and want to lower it with new wheels. I like the Eibachs but is there any springs that lower the car more? Also, do I need anything else to safely lower it besides the springs?

As far as wheels Im looking at 19" My question here is how much lower mpg are you guys getting from the stock 16" than with 19". This car is my commuter so I dont want to lower the gas mpg too much.

Welcome!

Pretty much everyone here who is lowered is running the Eibachs. It's the Pro-Kit so it was designed to work with the stock shocks...just slap 'em on and enjoy the muchly needed drop!

I haven't noticed any drop in mpg with my 18s. They're about 24lbs each, and I know LongBeachCoupe is running some heavy-azz 20s and he doesn't seem to complain much. As long as you don't drive it like you stole it, you'll be fine. The 2.5 is a phenomenal highway car as far as gas mileage goes.

So, what colour/transmission/package did you get?

I have the pro kit dropped on 20's and I probably only lost like 2 miles a gallon. But it is well worth the extra $5 a fill

I have a 2.5S Radiant Silver CVT with the convenience package. Wanted the better gas milage so I went with the 2.5. Im trying to decide between 18s or 19s. Just want to make an clean, good looking commuter with this car. So far only have tint and badges were removed.

ESP I like your car. Those wheels are one of my options

welcome and nice car. if you are thinking about 18s or 19s your budget will also come into effect. 19" tires are much more expensive then 18"

Yeah I know 19s are more than 18s but it all comes down to looks. Noshift did you paint your headlights or is that an overlay? Im looking to drop the car by the end of Oct and then get my wheels/tires by Dec so I have time. Ive been looking at the pics on this forum but does anyone else have additional places I could look at or cars with aftermarket wheels?

TireRack's website has a feature where you can view their entire inventory of wheels superimposed on whatever model car you choose. It's not perfect, but it gives you a pretty good idea of whether or not the wheels look good on your ride.

First Off, Welcome to Nico

Second, your car came OEM with 215/60/16 with a diameter of 26.2". With that said, you won't experience a significant drop in mileage as long as you stay within the stock diameter of your OEM tire size.

So if you selected 18's the best tire size would be 225/45/18 which has a diameter size of 26.0. That means if your speedo reads 60pmh, you're actually traveling 59.6 mph.

If you choose to go with 19", 225/40/19s would be have a diameter of 26.1. So if you're going 60mph, you're actually going 59.8mph

Keep in mind the size of the tire will have a direct relationship of how many revolutions per mile. Stock tire is 771.0. Obviously, a smaller tire will have more revolutions and a bigger tire will have less but this will impact the mileage on the car. That means if you go with a really smaller diameter tire, you're racking up miles on your odometer that aren't actually driving. Same goes for the inverse. So with all of that said, I'd stick to the tire sizes I mentioned above and your mileage shouldn't change....at least grossly!

Thanks for the info dangeris. I know weight also plays a roll in mpg. I think I saw a post here that the stockers weigh 47lbs with tires. So I guess I will try and find a wheel/tire combo that is close to that.

Is it true that the Eibach pro kit is 1.4" drop in the front and 1.0" in the back vs the H&R kit is 1.4" in the front and 1.3" in the back? If so I might go with the H&R. Does anyone have pic of an H&R lowered car?

I have not seen anybody on the forum with the H&R springs. I think there still is a groupbuy going on for the eibachs.

Nice ride, she is mighty shinny. Welcome to the family
