Post

Hello,

I own a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder SE. I'm at 183,00 miles right now. My mechanic has told me it is time to replace front and back shocks. I have done a few searches on this forum and feel like the KYB G2s might be right for me. My vehicle has adjustable suspension though. There is a button inside that says "Sport" and "Highway". My mechanic recommended not using this adjustable system. According to some online suppliers of the KYB G2s, they fit the 1991 Pathfinder but they often add the remark "Except Adjustable Suspension" to the shock description. My questions are:

1.Can I use these shocks anyway if I am planning on not using the adjustable feature?2. If we go with these shocks, does the mechanic need to somehow disengage the adjustable feature?3. Any other things I should be concerned about when doing the 1991 Pathfinder shocks?

Thanks!

Kurt

On my 98 R50 I went with the black monroes from O'Rielly. The rears are SUPER easy. The fronts are not so bad once you get the hang of it. Breaking loose the bolts and nuts is the hard part.

I have the Rancho shocks on my 96 4x4, and they are great. Just thought I would add my two cents in.

Summit has them online, and Advance Auto will price match and have them there in less time, and no shipping charges. Took a little over an hour to install all four.

No experience with the adjustable system, but I put GR2's on my QX4 and I love it, nice and stiff.

Hard to go wrong with KYB though, since that's what nissan used as OEM. You dont' necessarily have to use the adjustable system unless you really want to.
