Hi all,
Short intro, I am an Infiniti Master Tech who has been looking around the web for info on my new-to-me 2003 QX4. I recently picked up this vehicle from an owner who ran it hot till it quit. Anyhow, I had an engine with an oil consumption issue which I am prepping for install in my QX. Here is the important info, as part of the rear timing chain cover there are two oil passages formed by the casting and screwed on metal plates with gaskets. The issue is that these gaskets occasionally fail, partially blowing out in some areas, which causes a loss of oil pressure. This pressure loss is not enough to harm the rotating assembly parts, but IS enough to affect the valve timing control system operation. The kicker is these gaskets are not available through Nissan/Infiniti unless you can afford to buy the whole rear timing cover. Not being satisfied with that situation, I Googled "custom made gaskets" and found "Gaskets-to-Go". I scanned my gaskets/plates, and e-mailed them, and within 2 weeks had new gaskets made and delivered to me from Thailand. While I have not yet reassembled the engine the gaskets look great, and I foresee no issues with them. Just wanted to share this info, may be related to those of you experiencing P0011/P0021 codes. An oil pressure test following service manual specs may expose a need to remove the outer timing cover and check for these gaskets having a failure. There may even be pieces of these gaskets found in the lower oil pan if removed. I will try to post pics at a later time. Check out gasketstogo.com . No affiliation, just a satisfied customer...

Thanks for listening,
