Hey all... I looked around trying to find this out but was unsuccessful... I just got lost and confused in the massive amounts of posts here. Here is what I am trying to do. I want to turn my non-bose plain old stereo into a DD nav/dvd system. I already have the head unit. But I want the center panel console piece. I bought one online but the section that goes over the air conditioning /heating dials is flat across, not curved for each dial. So I am not sure if it will fit. I just want it to look like this. (Thanks to my a/c buddy Kyle for the photo) Thanks for any help.

Welcome! The audio/visual section may have more info regarding this...but...

Metra dash kits look like the one you pictured, im not sure what kit you have, but they are different based upon if you had the "premium" package (bose) because of the dials...

Explain your question more... did i answer it?

You did... but here is more explanation. I have the 2.5L AC. I got the basic bottom of the line stereo. No bose, nothing... Just the very basic system. I bought the DNX5120 by Kenwood. And I want the instrument panel to match. Thus I want to buy that piece in the photo. The one I got does not have a contoured section for the dials for the heater/air conditioner. It is just straight across. So I have to return this one and get the one in the photo. But I can't seem to find it. Also... the one I got says Bose on it and Bluetooth. I don't want it to say that. Basically, I am just looking for that exact peice around the stereo in the photo. I see that it exists... it is just a matter of finding it!

Welcome to NICO!

The piece in the picture is not the Metra kit because it has the same Nissan texture on it, making it 100x better! It's actually an OEM piece with part number 68260-JA00A. You can go to the stealership and order one there, or find a site that sells OEM Nissan parts online for cheap. CourtesyNissanParts.com maybe? But for sure that's the part. I picked one up from the stealership...

The one you bought was for Premium package with automatic temperature. You need to get the face with basic features and DVD unit.

This is perfect! I came in here to search for this, and found it on the first post...

Could someone explain why that link (which is also referred to in the FAQ section for newbz, and is referred by a number of other people) shows the center panel "w/o" navigation? I thought we were supposed to be buying the panel "with" navigation so that it would have the empty square?

This is not the correct part though.... This shows what I have... I need the one for manual climate control.... Like the one in the photo.

Trust me on the part number. I have one sitting at home!!!! The part number I gave you is the bezel piece for a car without climate control that wants to install a touchscreen.

Can I get some back up please

Edit: it looks like we need to ask for 68260-JA00A - I've seen it named many times, but on that web site it only has a small description, and it appears to be the wrong one. So the link that is being posted all over is incorrect.

Also, do I need to purchase any additional brackets, or will the center consol piece suffice?

Edit#2: I plan on installing a single din deck.

This is correct. The panel for with navigation is designed to be used with the Nissan OEM navigation unit which is a different size from a standard double DIN unit (it is wider). You do not want this panel unless you want to try to find a way to fill the gap.

Looks like I probably need to update the FAQ, more info in here:

http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread?id=357581

Also, for pictures sake, here's the kit for with navigation so you can see that the cutout is actually too large (notice the gaps around my Alpine IVA-W205):

Oh it's not that I don't believe you... I just can't find the piece. Every site that I go to or am told about has just the part for automatic climate controls.

The only part that is for auto climate controls is either the Bose unit (which is much more expensive than the $25 ish you see) or for the OEM navigation (which I have pictured above). Unless they've recently decided to produce an OEM textured dash kit for double DIN units with auto climate control (not that I know of).

The actual picture may look a bit deceiving, but the panel for w/o navigation is what you're looking for. The only other panels w/o nav come with the radio already attached so they'll be closer to $400 (these are obviously not what you want).

(Man - Apple you are gonna hate me...) You know I love you guys.... but I just called a Nissan dealership and gave them the part number 68260-ja00a. They told me this was for a Altima Sedan. They were not sure if it would fit... So I thought I would ask the experts on here. (You all seem to know a lot more than the dealerships!) Here is the link where I was going to buy it from. http://www.trademotion.com/par...14459 Correct?

Thanks!!!!!

Yup, the sedan and coupe have the exact same audio options. It would be a bit to expensive to design completely different audio systems for both cars. With how well (joking) cars are selling right now, they gotta keep costs down!

I thought I'd chime in with my two cents. I took the dash piece that was too wide and modded it. I think it turned out pretty nice. If you decide to copy my idea, you'll need to order an extra piece of plastic.. like that doo-hicky between the center console and the dash face that you're replacing. Its a piece of that textured plastic, black, about 2" x 7". Take out your dremel and carve away at it ever so gently. If you're good, you'll end up with this:

Where did you order that piece of extra plastic?

nissanparts2u.com (Mossy Nissan in Cali). Just give them a call, ask for Peter, and tell him you want the trim piece that goes up above the dash console directly below the A/C controls. It costs all of $4.63 or something to that effect
