I'm gettin some ticking out of my sr20det, I planning on doing a tune up here and was thinking since I'm under the hood I should whatever else i can beside plugs and wires, I'm still relativitily stock beside a 300zx tt fuel fuilter.

Be sure to check your timing as well and think about investing in some rocker arm stoppers you should be able to get some Greddy R.A.S. for about $60-$75.

From what i here this is a common problem with S13 Redtops....the valves need to be adjusted because the is air in there some where...and i know you must just had a typo but there is not an S14 Redtop only black with the camel back..

It's an issue with any SR ... the lash adjusters develop air in them if the engine is left dry for too long and will be very loud under operation. They are not the self bleeding type of hydraulic adjusters so they will need to be removed and submerged into engine oil by laying them, on the bottom, on their side.

You should not even have to remove the cams to do this, or at least on the engine I was last working on you could remove the rockers without removing the cam.
