Hi, I have a 2014 nissan rogue and its just over 3,000 miles. I was wondering what is the best oil to use? I have seen lots of topics where people talk about different oils and some people say synthetic is good and others say it is not needed for a new car. I have seen other posts where someone said that the dealer used 10w - 30 on the car despite the manual saying it should be changed with 5w-30.

I have a coupon for firestone and it says $20 for a synthetic oil change using a synthetic blend (doesnt say how much of what is in the blend though). Or I can buy oil and a filter at auto zone and bring it to my mechanic and he will charge $15 labor if I supply the new oil / filter.

So what is the best value - should I buy special oil and pay my mechanic to do the change or is it safe to bring to firestone for a synthetic blend oil change?

You want to use the 0w-20 that the manual says if you want to get the best MPG.

Yes, use 0W20 to get the most power and fuel economy out of your Rogue. It is what your engine was designed to run on. The money you would save on a conventional oil change will cost you at the pump.
