oh dear god.for starters remove that POS you call an oilfilter and put a decent filter on your freeking car.fram sucks complete ***, go to the dealer and get a filter and tell them you want it for 5$.dont run synthetic in an engine that has had dino oil in it all its life go to napa and get some 10w40 (5 qts to be exact) then add 4 qts to the engine and top off.

About 4 quarts then check the level. I would cut my foot off with a spoon before I would put a fram filter on my car but you can do what you want. I don't trust them. I hear they are bad. I have a K&N which conviently has a nut thing on the end so you can remove the filter easier. I have also used Mobil one filters.~ANDREW~

Nissan OEM = better than purolator not quite as good as KN...

Dont even start your car with Fram, too many just destruct on dry start and send cardboard thru the engine unbeknowst to the owner..

Also in US summer use at least a 10w-40 better a 15w-50/20w-50 for any turbo car

Palmer, I was under the assumption that the Purolators were atleast a good decent oil filter. I read for about a month on oil filters and which one was good. Even though the articles I read were a little older (about 2-3 years old), they were pretty good. They didn't have much information about the K&N filters, but they atleast recommended Purolators or stock OEM filters.

Any reason why you say that the Purolators are not as good as OEM?

Nissan says 7.5w30. You fill it up untill it hits the line on the dipstick. So, buy about 6 quarts, fill it to the line, run the engine for about 20 seconds, turn the engine off, wait, check oil level, fill, and you're set. Whatever oil you don't use you save untill next time.

I've been using K&N filters for years with mobil1. Nothing else.

who actually sells 7.5w30? i am sure if you ask the guy at napa for that weight, he would go to the stockroom so you couldnt hear him laughing:) The shop that installed my motor chose the filter and i picked the brand of oil. I use mobil 1 in every car i own, except my ranger:) I just really wanted to know approx how much oil it takes as i have heard it is just as bad on a turbo motor to have too much as it is to have too little oil. so about 4.5 Qts with filter change? anybody have the nissan oem filter number,,,,or application?

i have heard that synthetic oil does not 'burn' inside the turbo at shutdown like a conventional motor oil can. If synthetics are bad for turbo cars, why does the EVO come straight from the factory with mobil 1?

That is ridiculous, I dont who told you that. Every Turbo rated oil sold over here is synthetic...Omega, HKS, Mobil 1, etc etc...

if the engine has been run its entire life with dino oil then the seals are accustomed to mineral oil.syn oil tends to be 'slicker' than dino oil so it has the potential to seep past seals because it isnt as 'thick' as dino oil is.do as you like but if the engine was ran on dino oil i never would switch to synthetic, besides if you change your oil like you should then there shouldnt be any problems.2.5kmi and the oil is out of my engine.

yah, wix filters are good filters.i know that at the dealer i work at that every car that we change the oil in gets dino oil.......unles syn is specified.from waht in know nissan still uses dino oil in all their new engines.syn oil smells a bit strange, so if your oil has an odd odour it may be synthetic.
