Well i just picked up my S14 SR- The head was just refreshed and it still in pieces, so im looking at upgrading.

My initial plan wss to shoot for 400WHP-however Im now looking at 350 based on my turbo(GT28)

My current specs are
S14 SR
Greddy V SPC intercooler
MISHIMOTO rad
Walboro 255lph
GT28
Five0 750cc injectors

I think that covers most of what will affect the motor-the rest can be found here
project-po-s14-t496365.html

my question is how far do I need to go? I was planning on putting im the ER spec bottom and top end from ken. Is that overkill for the disco potato?

The stock bottom end is pretty durable as long as you provide enough fuel. It's still not a bad idea to refresh the bottom end while it's opened up though. You'll always want more from your motor. You'll start out wanting 300, then 350, then 400, until you eventually want more than you can even get to the ground with traction. I'm not sure what the top end package has, but if you have the funds, I recommend going to a solid lifter setup over the stock hydraulic. The head is the weakest point of an SR...

the head package from ken is:
Brian Crower Cams, Springs, Ti Retainer, and Valves
264/264 cams

and the bottom end package is:
CP Pistons - Please specify the Bore and Compression ratio.
-Eagle Connecting Rods - These H-beam connecting rods are great for up to 500hp applications. Comes with ARP hardware.
-Main Bearings - Choose Grades, Qty 5
-Crank Bearings - Choose Grades, Qty 4.
-Thrust Washers - Qty 2.

I asked ken and he told me this motor with this top and bottom end would hold up to 500WHP. obviously more than i want, but your right. if i know myself 350 will probley want to be more sooner rather than later.

Head package seems pretty standard. I'm not a huge fan of Brian Crower cams, though. I think the JWT S3s would be more in line with what you're looking for. The springs, retainers, and valves are a good option. A LOT of people use that bottom end package. My SR is being rebuilt with CP 87mm 9:1 pistons and Manley H-Beam Rods (These rods are a little difficult to find now, for some reason.). You won't know what size bearings you need until you get the motor opened up. As Ken told you, that is a VERY good setup for your plans.
