what you guys think?

I agree, looks sweet, id actually go darker (like surmanM, but id cover the reverse as well)

The thing is, its permanent, if you are in an area that cops dont care its one thing... but if they bust chops, or if you are uncertain, its a shame to have to buy new headlights because you did a permanent mod!

HEY, my 1st purchase from longbeachcoupe, was a total INSTALLER FAAAAAIL!! "gallup CUSTOM TINT" said putting the overlays into the groove around the tail lights was a bad idea, because the tint would bubble up and peel back. so they cut the tint just short of the grooves ALL the way around the tail lights.without asking me first!haha. -heh-Custom Tinting my @$$! so i had to buy another set from LBC,

i wonder if leaving the first tint on and just "overlay" with the second tint would work? would the 1st layer stay put or peel back when 2nd layer is applied??

Karu11; so your 1st attempt failed bcuz u needed a wingman right, any tips/advice for those of us who are about to attempt the same feat?!!

thanks shop guy says if it goes any darker it'd be illegal, something like in new york, red light has to be visible from 1000ft or something?

its possible alone i think, but it would've been easier if i had my wingman hold the blowdryer for me, i like overstretched it or something so it wasn't possible to smooth it out, then i accidentally ripped it when trying to pull it off, i was on it for like an hour. LBC's overlays are great quality, just should've had my friend with me as he's more experienced with tints, this was my first attempt ever.

Dangeris installed his GTR overlays by himself, and i think Tyler (one of the other moderators) installed the full coverage ones himself too...

Karu, if you get pulled over, tell them the guy who installed it said its legal, and see what they say lol!

Really? how much was your ticket? I haven't put my overlays on yet that I got from LBC, I'm doing that tomorrow. I got the dark gray 60%. I've read that it's a 50/50 thing. Some people have no trouble here in Cali with their tail lights smoked/tinted, and others have really bad luck.

I wonder if the here will be d!ck about mine. I've seen plenty of people around here with either dark as f*ck tails or even no tails at all. Hmm, I'ma hope for the best... *knocks on wood* lol

Well it was a fix-up ticket. Got it removed took it to the CHP office, got it cleared and sent in the ticket with $10.. Than went back and got the overlays done again, 2 weeks later. BAMM ticket again. On Hollywood & Highland! So far 5 fix up tickets.. 2 for overlays 3 for window tint.. I've had bad luck.

I had a set of Bat overlays for the tails and couldn't get them to fit and I wound up painting. We also painted my friends taillights and he recently took the paint off.

A little sanding here and there and some clear coat and you're as good as new.

My lights seem pitch black but I measured and the light is plainly visible from 600ft in the daytime which is the only law I was concerned about. Other than that my lights are still illegal because I don't have any reflective part of my taillight, cops just put down "Too dark" though but they are not so that's good

fix-it ticket huh? hm, well not too bad i guess... but still a pain to get pulled over at all... another reason why i don't like the popo's.... they got nothing better to do than to write tickets for bs laws... u can obviously see the car during the day, and if the tail light is visible from a good distance at night, then that should be good enough. oh well, they still look sexy...

That is a freaking nice job done! The gloss is just right. Often times, I see it either too dull or too glossy but yours matches factory looks spot on! However, I like the contrast provided by red on darker colors (black, blue, grey, slate) so I wouldn't do it myself.
