So to make a long story short. I was in a recent accident where my bullbar got smushed when some a**hole all of a sudden decided to do one of those intentional brake stops in front of a Lexus IS300 with only 6000 miles in front of me; right in middle of the intersection when the light turned green. Right after I had my Rogue repainted.
Creep got away, of course I was blamed. The gentleman in the Lexus actually felt bad for me as I smacked into him but he didn't hit the a*hole. The cop didn't give me a ticket either. But let's move on.
Well the bullbar was ruined. All I ended up with was a couple of dents, paint missing, and holes (from the foglight brackets) in the bumper which were repaired, so that was good. But I needed to replace my driving lights which were actually decorations with the wires cut.
As for the bullbar creating more or less damage in a slow vehicle accident. My impression is, it would have been repainted or repaired no matter what. Except I probably would not have the holes that my driving lights made. Everything under the hood and radiator looked fine.
So I got into the mod phase again since it's easier to do after a wreck.
This time I really wanted to get the OEM Nissan foglights. But guess what. I know my Rogue is only 2009 and that is eons in dog years but come on Nissan. Why in the world can I not find OEM nissan fog lights? When I went to my dealership, the guy spent like almost 45 minutes at the Nissan Body parts computer and he could not find it. I even went online for a week trying to find OEM 2009 NIssan Foglights and even on this site. No luck!
Disgusted that I can't even find any OEM foglights for my Rogue, I just went and bought some aftermarket lights. Heck no on aftermarket foglights in the Rogue pre-made holes, no way am I going to remove the fender and find out the lights go leaking or fogging up because of bad brackets.
So here I present to you......... FrankenRogue, my diabolical creation. Since I was bored, I had some 100 watt driving lights installed.
Moreover, I found these cheap GI-nourmous roof lights bars which were kinda too big and after a little fineese, gap filling, and some Mcgyver work, I got them to look half-way decent (had to sacrifice the front crossbar). I attached the lightbar myself and had the wires professionally installed but I never use either of them on the street, just whenever I am off-road. Which is like never. Their mainly decorations. Thank god I have no wind noise considering all the exterior accessories I have installed. Been very lucky.
Actually, that is one thing I love about the Rogue. The headlights are really nice and brighten the road nicely and I don't have the HID's.
The lightbar is actually not that bright too look at in my opinion but it brightens the area still while the driving lights are really bright and pierce the night with its focus beam of light!
Yah my aux lights are ridiculously big, yah they fugly, but I am happy with them. I can still go 80mph with not much difference in wind noise than usual. Still get 21.6-22.8 mpg in city or so the computer says. But here is the beautiful part folks, I can remove this lightbar whenever I want since it is attached by 3M tape, so it stays as long as I like.
You know there's not much you can do to modify these darn Rogues, but I just made mine more unique. Rock on!
