Ok...So I previously posted that I recently traded in my 99 Jetta for a beautiful 2006 G35x. It's mint and I couldn't be happier with it. Everything is great with it so far. Not one complaint.

So last night after work, some friends and I head down to Mohegan Sun for a little food, drink and hopefully $$$ (didn't happen). When I get to the casino, not wanting to leave my lap top bag exposed on the back seat, I decide to throw it along with my gym bag in the trunk. When I do so...thud...the trunk floor collapses...the spare tire compartment is empty!

Now I checked this car thoroughly...top to bottom...inside and out...but I don't think I checked for a spare. I guess I just assumed (I know I know) if your spending this kind of money on this kind of car, from a reputable dealer...a spare would be standard. What do you guys think? When I was shown the car, the saleman (he's also the owner of the dealership) showed me the trunk but I don't think he mentioned the spare. I should mention also that the car was "certified". Not sure if that gave me a false sense of security.

To complicate matters...I liked the buying experience and quality of used vehicles at this dealer so much...I currently have him looking for a car for my wife. Not sure how to proceed, as if I press the issue with him on my car I'm sure he'll attempt to recoup the money in negotiations for my wife's. So a couple questions...

1) How would you proceed...is it just buyer beware and my fault?

2) What kind of spare standardly comes with an Infiniti G35x. I can't imagine driving it with a donut (gasp!).

3) What kind of cost am I looking at?

Thanks,
Rob

1) I'd call and ask them for a spare. They should give you one.

2) Yes, it's a donut.

3) It should be free to you.

I agree with the above. You bought a certified car with full warranty and it should have the factory supplied spare tire.

My 2005 has the premium package that included a full size alloy spare. I believe the non-premium models came with a donut. Dunno if Infiniti changed the specs for 2006.

If your floor collapsed it means either your stuff was very heavy (!) or the board that sits over the spare is also missing.

Where did you get the car? Just guessing, if it's a non Infiniti dealer you might have a harder time getting a spare from them.

Good luck

the AWD models are the ones with a full size spare, to prevent the atessa system from going all BMW on you. If it was a CPO, it should have come with a spare. EVERYONE assumes there is a spare back there. Thats probably why its missing. Someone took it out and never spoke of it.

i would just ask for a spare cause it should have a full sized spare... my 2005 g35x with premium package C did... no reason to burn the bridge you created over a missing spare tire... i bet the sales guy didnt even know it wasnt there either... everyone assumes there is a spare...
