I finally got a chance to drive my Q and measure the mileage for the first time. For those of you you don't know the story, I bought my Q from Florida roughly 5 months ago and had it shipped to Canada. The transport company dropped it off approximately 800 miles away from where I live. I went to pick up the car and found out that the ACTIVE suspension was finished. So I did alot of maintenance and repairs to bring to car up to snuff and it took me over 4 months to complete. I finally came back home 5 days ago. This was my first real opportunity to drive the car, because during those 4 months, the only thing I did was drive the car to the garage for repairs and back to my friend's place to park. I put no more than 40 miles in total on the car during that time.

Here is a list of some of the work I did:

Changed all 9 Accumulators ( Thanks to Keith)Changed the ACTIVE Suspension Fluid A Cleaned the Fuel Injection System ProfessionallyCleaned the Throttle BodyClean the Mass Air Flow Sensor with Electrical Spray (q45.org)Replaced the Air Filter with an OEM partReplaced the Fuel Filter with an OEM partReplaced the Oil Filter with and OEM part and change the oil - 5W30 Synthetic Engine Oil FlushCoolant FlushNew OEM Thermsostat CapRadiator was just replaced recently by the previous OwnerHigh Pressure Hose for Power Steering Pump was just replaced recently by the Previous OwnerNew Clamp for one of the Power Steering Pump LinesTransmission Fluid changed - Castrol Dexron IIITransmission Strainer replaced with an OEM partTransmission Gasket replaced with an OEM partTransmission Cooler B&M 70268 installedReplaced the Spark Plugs with NGK PFR-5B11 Differential Fluid Change - 75W90 AGIP Synthetic Put some silicone on the front lip of the oil pan and straightened it, because there was a small bend. So here is my fuel economy report.

I started out at 145,974 miles. I filled up 61.972 liters of gas which is the equivalent of 16.3713 gallons (US) and drove a total distance of 146,313 miles. So I managed a total of 339 miles on this segment of my trip.

The second fillup came to a grand total of 64.046 liters which is the equivalent of 16.9192 gallons (US) and I ended up at 146,691 miles. So for this segment, I ended up with a total of 378 miles.

For the third segment, I filled up 73.4 liters of gas and will post when I fill up next since it's not empty yet.

I put a bottle of Red Line SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner at each of the first 2 fillups and drove approxiamtely 65mph the entire distance.

So how is my fuel consumption?16.3 gallons = 339 miles. Does that equal 20.70 mpg?16.9 gallons = 378 miles. Does that equal 22.34 mpg?

20-22 mpg is pretty typical. Looks like a Great Q45a you now have! Congrats on bringing it back to spec.

My calulator tells me 20.79 and 22.36 respectively.

If this is indeed what you are getting your A is getting exceptional mileage. Most of of other A owners are more in the mid teens - I typically get around 15.5-16.5 mostly hwy driving.

Wow, I'd say that's good to above average mileage. And from the list, it doesn't look lie you did either knock or o2 sensors. Nice list of "up to snuff" repairs.

How's the active drive?

Nice Post. a good list of things to take care of. If you dont mind, would you be willing to post the total cost of your repairs. it doesn't have to be exact, but a close estimate would be appreciated. and maybe your price for the car too. thanks

o2 Sensors are original unless the previous owner changed them outside of the dealer, since I have all the dealer records from new. I know of some of the repairs that were done privately such as the timing chain guides, but no mention if the o2 sensores.Regarding the knock sensor, when I had the CONSULT 2 hooked up to the car, it came back with that the knock sensor was bad, but when we did teh test a second time, it didn't show up. The tech said that it was probably an old code that was stored from before. I have all the slips from the test.I still have to do the Power Balance test. I wasn't aware of that one.

The ACTIVE drives as smooth as silk. Handling is great. I'm starting to appreciate it. It doesn't like the grooves in the highway though and sometimes you can hear a groan from the left front corner when going down from a parking lot at a fast speed.]

EPA rating was 16 RURAL city cycle and 22 highway [not to exceed 61 mph=2,000 rpm]..................loose engines can get better then decline with high mileage.

Tire rolling resistance and inflation plus alignment count a lot..........35psi at speed and temperature.

Using oxygenated [mtbe or ethanol] fuel will decrease by at least 1 mpg in both test cycles.

Here is an approximate amount of money I have spent so far. I converted the Canadian amounts to USD. I have all the receipts.

I bought the car for $4300 USDI had to pay for transport $1500 USDOn top of that was 6.1% Duty, Brokerage Fees, 15% Federal Tax + Provincial Tax $1195 USDReapairs and Maintenance $4800 USD

Total: $11,795

I'm not quite finished yet either. I still have a small list of parts I need. I just ordereded a Front Vertical G Sensor, and I'm going to order to 2 Front Upper Links, and a Brake Switch.
