Soo...my SR started knocking and I'm pretty sure its a main bearing so I decided to do a full build. I'm looking for 450-500whp. The car's going to be used as street driven drift car.

To be honest I've never build and engine so I'm looking for your guy's suggestions.

What I have:

- zenki SR20DET w/ vvt from an s14- fmic with 2.5" aluminum piping- Greddy RS bov- Greddy oil pan- knock off mishi radiator- 3" dp & tp

I'm willing to spend money for quality. The car will be making trips 300-400 miles. I would like to run a top mount.

I'm looking for suggestions on:

- internal engine set up (compression, pistons, rods, cams, bearings, machine work)- rear diff + axles- engine management- Turbo and manifold- wideband and egt gauge

I'm also looking for machine shop in the Florence, SC and Savannah, GA area.

Thanks guys! ^-^

Are you wanting to make 450-500whp on pump gas or race gas?

Pump if possible, at higher boost. I plan to run less boost for DD.

This may sound like a rediculous question, but how do you know that your SR came from Zenki. When I got mine it was already out of the car/clip. And the reason for asking is that there are wiring differences between the Zenki and Kouki. That will make a major difference when getting, say a Power FC because there are 2 models for the S14 SR20DET. Just food for though.

I would recommend nothing smaller in size than say, a Garrett GT3076R. I was able to do 460+whp with that turbo at 20psi, which was right at the limit for pump gas. But that was with cams/intake manifold/head work. A GT35R or Borg Warner S258 would get you closer to 500whp at the same boost pressure.

You can also add Blitz K3 #8 to the mix and get similar results.

When I typed my first response, it showed that the OP was online, but when the next post hit, the OP was showing offline.

Bcus we had electrical issue before hand and had to replace the ecu while trouble shooting, and we replaced it with the zenki.

Soo...I just bought a Garrett GT3540R .82If you could figure that into your suggestions

I'm looking at full-race manifolds. Will the twin scroll function work with my turbo and if so..is it worth $350 difference (from equal length)?

Turbo wise . why not a t3 t4 .60 compressor and a .63 or a .73 twin scroll turbine. lets say 50 trim . Mine is a .60 ar compressor .and .63 turbine capable of 475 journal bearing and cheap to rebuild heres a site for ya .http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_...Turbo

pfabrication has them to. http://www.pfabrications.com/turbochargers

miss read your post pfab also does some custom mani work .

The twin scroll manifold would only be truly effective if you have a twin scroll turbine housing on your turbo. Otherwise, I would just get a normal manifold from them.

Sounds good guys Thank you! but I've already went with the GT3540R looks like I'm getting the shoehorn manifold.

Here's another question..wg. What size should be sufficient? I've looked at the Tial 44mm...?Also I'm looking to order rods and pistons. I'm looking at eagle rods but I'm not sure what compression pistons to get. I'm thinking about 9.1:1 or 8.5:1? What do you guys suggest?

Tial 44mm is a good choice.

I'm running Wiseco 9.1:1 pistons and Eagle h-beam rods in my S14 SR. No complaints here.

I would suggest looking for going with AT LEAST a gt3076R for that output goal for pump gas...

So are you just stumbling into parts or what? I don't drift, but don't you want quick response for your task at hand.

To me it sounds like you are getting parts and trying work them into the plan instead of mapping out the plan and acquiring the parts. I am not trying to be funny or anythng, just trying to follow the logic.

Editted because I can't spell

You can also tell between zenkie and kouki by the valve cover bolts. The zenkie has a stud, nut combo to hold the valve cover on. The kouki has a bolt that threads into the head.

So..I've been gathering parts..slowly lol.

Now I'm looking at getting BC 272 Cams, Springs, Retainers, and Valves. I was wondering..Do I will need rocker arm stoppers?

They wouldn't hurt...especially for how inexpensive they are. Just think of them as cheap insurance.

Just re-read some of your previous posts...why did you decide to go with the GT3540R instead of the GT3582R??

Im running a pretty much stock s14 sr20det and i put the ras on it just for the insurance under 100.00 dollars to not have valve float and your spending how much on your turbo setup ? get the idea . And about egt gauge a friend of mine running a 1020whp supra said if you run the wide band you can keep your egt down by running a little rich .

Do you care about lag much? Im at 502whp on 93 octane with my T04Z. Hits 20psi just under 5500rpm in 4th gear on the street. My number is on a stock ecu though. Definitly can get more power by switching to a MAP Sensor.

nistune bang for ur buck, but with that HP goal, id think its best to go all out with the AEM engine management system. it doesnt get any better than that. either way, make sure it is standalone and not one of those expensive piggybacksgood luck

its a dyno rom tuned ecu. works great but the maf restricts alot of airflow at high rpm and at high boost pressures.
