I will tell you like they told me man, SLOW DOWN! I get that you want to race the dirt track and want to get rid of all crap you dont want/need. We have a few FSM's here (factory service manual) that could help you on your way.

NEVER LIFT:Could you add the / to the last [img] tag in your sig? its messing up the format of the page....

Your trying to use a DOHC wiring harness on a single cam?

Did you swap a single cam into your car? the SOHC was 89 and 90, 91 and up cam with the KA24DE from the factory, and very few people would swap the later for the former....

I think you got the FSM? its in my sig....Its gotta have wiring diagrams right? I haven't done any electrical work with my car so I cant really offer any advice other then read over the wiring diagrams and maybe search for info in posts about SOHC to DOHC swaps...

This isn't the first dirt track 240 though, while I unfortunately cant point you towards specific examples I've seen them used for almost any motorsport you can imagine(I don't think Ive seen an ice racing 240?)

Also I wouldn't underestimate the "outdated" Toyota's and what not...there is very little out there on dirt track 240's...I wouldn't be surprised if there was already a decent knowledge base out there for those other cars.

hey d look in the post above me and see what's at the bottom of is post. there you go kid. This is the only 240 on the dirt down here. so the knowledge is very limited on these. well in there world (dirt track drivers round here). who know what all he can cut out if he can with out throwing codes and it not running anymore?

I dont say this to be mean but I can barely understand what you, or the original poster are trying to say...

Not much can be removed with out it throwing codes. Alot of the codes are there to point out faults in the emissions system, but almost none of that stuff is needed for the engine to run...

Search some variations of "emission removal" I know ive seen guides on howto remove most of the stuff.

How did this project work out? Here it's all Mustangs and Celicas; I want to stand out and have fun.

Sounds like I'm in a similar situation. I'm building an '89 coupe with a SOHC to race on a quarter mile dirt track. I want to get rid of as much wiring as possible without hurting performance. I was thinking that I would start at the ECU and get rid of all the wires that never go into it. Does that sound like it would work?
