On the way back from a trip from Louisiana heard a loud ding like a rock hitting metal. There was an old van a little ahead and to the side of us. Looked all over that side of the car and couldn't find anything.

Looked around again today and I have a chip in the paint dead center on the trunk. Don't know how that could be unless the rock flew way up and came down on it. 800 miles and probably going to have to have the whole trunk lid painted.

Has anybody tried the Dr. ColorChip repair? I have been reading some good reviews for it.

Sorry to hear that. A chip is one of those things that are bound to happen--it's just a matter of time. The first one is the toughest.

I picked up some touch up paint at the stealership--haven't tried it yet--but I will soon.

I got two to experiment with. One has a brush tip, the other, a felt and pen tip. Both have clearcoat to use after the paint drys.

I'll see how it goes.

I probably wouldn't even be bothered if it had been on the front somewhere.

Going to order the Dr. ColorChip kit and hope for the best.

My Versa is silver and I have 3 or four on the front of it and they really show up bad.

I wouldn't repaint the entire thing. That can get quite costly. If you can live with it, that'll be your best bet because this probably isn't the first paint chip that you'll experience.

I think it's a waste of time and money to even bother fixing chips, unless you have a excessive amount. Fix one chip, then you get another one the next day.

3 words for ya: environmentally friendly paint. Which sucks for us, but is good for the environment

That's a tough trade-off, especially when you spend close to $30k on your car. I guess we have to take it, because it's already on our cars and repainting is out of the question. Next step: environmentally friendly cars.

Don't worry about it. Paint chips are a fact of life. I've got quite a few on my hood and i cringe at every new chip that I find. I'll probably just let to build up to the point where it starts to really make the car look bad...then its time for a repaint.

Just leave the chips on, it gives the cars character.

Problem solved.

I had a light scratch on the trunk lid that I brought to their attention and they are going to redo the whole lid which takes care of my rock chip also.

I almost decided to not have them reinstall the emblems but my wife wanted them on there. Would have been nice to dust a few 2.5s and have them wonder what did that.
