First I'd like to say Hi to everyone, I started reading these forums and learning more about the 240 a month or two back and I final decided to post.

Ever since I started looking at cars, I've always like the 240sx, sometimes not the most, I had my, rx-7 and Fiero phases and others, but in the end, the 240 came out on top. I've been looking for a 91' fastback, since for some reason, I like that year more so then others, but I am having a trouble finding one... Until now, I just looked up on my local classifieds and I see a 91' 240 LE fastback, manual and pretty much everything I could want.. But its got about 260000km's or about 160000miles and I was wondering what the average life of a KA is? Like if 160000 is pushing it? (donno that much on engines, still learning), since I don't really want to have the engine rebuilt and I don't plan to switch it out anytime soon. Also, how much would you say it should cost, this one is $4000cnd and is apperently in "great shape" haven't see it yet.-Thanks

Regarding the life expectancy of the KA, scroll down the forum list and post it in the KA engine forum, theay would have the most knowledge on that. The 240 is a great car, I'm sure you will be happy with one. there are plenty of people on the board who can help you with problems so hurry up and buy one!:D

How long have you been looking for a 240SX? 160,000 miles is a lot, no matter how you cut it. As for life expectancy, as the Scientist said, the gurus in the KA forum would know better about that. From what I've seen, the KA is a pretty tough engine. It's certainly not in its prime at 160K, but it may still have some life left. It's hard to generalize on something like that.

I just bought a '93 this week with 228,800 miles on the clock. Runs strong, & never a major problem according to all records kept by the prior owner who I know well. I put 237K on an '87 Chrysler turbo. Never a problem, & its still running well three years after I sold it. It ain't the miles; it's who put the miles on. Always check maintenance records. If no records, lower your offer by 20-30%

good luck on the car, 160k miles is nothing for a ka compared to a lot of them. just start out and make a really low offer and then go up from there.
