So I'm pretty new here.. I've posted a few times, though, asking questions and classifieds or whatever but mostly just trolling..
I used to have a '95 s14 Stock 240sx and she was the coolest thing since free online p0rn..
Image
it's the second one to the right.. excuse the cheesy old picture.. lol.. it was like over 6 years ago.. in torrance visiting friends and family
then one rainy evening.. on my way to work on the freeway.. i hydroplaned on a large puddle of water.. felt the rear slide out and spun me around sending me into a concrete wall backwards @ about 50..
Image
it's kinda of a bummer story and the bank who gave me the loan is still screwing me but that is neither here nor there and I will get on..
I bought a $500 civic hatch pos, it got stolen, retrieved, and I sold it.. bought an 88 toyota 4wd pickup.. great great great machine.. I had a lot of fun on this truck both fixing it up, daily driving it, and mashing it on the weekends, but as time went on.. I felt a familiar itch..

...I need another 240...

This calling only intensified when while trolling craigslist one evening I saw a listing for someone who owned a, what seemed to be, nearly perfect s13 inside and out..
at the bottom of the page it read: looking to trade for 4wd longbed pickup pref. nissan
HOT DAMN! I did'nt have a longbed, and it wasn't a nissan, but shoot, with how clean my truck is I was sure he couldn't turn it down..
so I called him the next day and told him about my truck and he told me about his s13..
he came by later that day and checked out my truck, it wasnt what he was quite looking for so he sugguested I could probably get more selling my truck itself and buying his for 2200..
whatever I'll try it..
put it on craigslist the same day for $3000 and phone started ringing almost immediatly, I went for a couple test drives but one local hippie chick ended up taking it.. it worked out great for me too cause it had no cat and wouldnt smog.. so i bought her a cat.. gave it to her with the truck and she said she'd have it installed AND smogged.. word.. also I had done a cab swap with a cleaner cab and bed so NONE of the vins matched.. she took care of that too.. double word..
so I sold my truck for $3000, and talked the very strange old guy down to $2000 for the s13.. (sounds like a lot but we don't get many clean ones locally)
and voila! I had my very own 240sx again!

so the body is really straight.. just a couple small dents on the pass. side rear bumper.. and the interior was IMMACULATE.. which was really important to me.. but after the first week or so passed, the usual 200,000+ miles and 20+ years on the road-ish problems started occuring.. 2nd and 3rd gear was grinding really bad..idle was really bad, but only sometimes.. and the car wouldn't usually stay running without slight pressure on the gas pedal.. plus it was sohc and kinda gutless due to its age.. and I was pretty frustrated with it..
what to do.. what to do...
so after a while.. and after saving a pretty good chunk of change..
Image
I finally decided to order an sr20det motor and transmission from jspecmotorsports and put my sohc to rest..
it arrived less than a week later:
Image
Image
Image
..omfg it was more beautiful than i ever could have anticipated..
as were the first two parts I ordered for it..
Image
act 6 puck sprung clutch and apexi intake filter kit
then time for more saving.. ugh...

after another couple months of saving I was ready to start splurging again..
Image
and I moved my a** to a house with a garage..
I got a couple buddys to help me move the motor from my friends shop to my house:
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
after I got most all the parts together.. I called some friends to help disassemble/reassemble my sr to see what we were working with..
first got it on the stand..
Image
Image
Image
and we took off the valve cover..
Image
they love their oil changes over there in Japan now don't they.. lol
Image
and then we took the head off to take to a machine shop
Image
Image
and in the meanwhile.. we enjoyed a little bit of snow
Image
Image
gotta love HUMBOLDT COUNTY! 5 min from the beach.. 5 min from the snow..
anywaiz
while I waited for the head to get checked and cleaned.. I figured its time to pull out my feverish old sohc ka..
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
so empty now!
might as well test fit new mishimoto radiator and isis fan shroud
Image
Image
Image
the head got back to me and I talked myself into buying new timing chain kit..
I just got a new cometic gasket kit and didnt want to have to replace them ever again so I figured might as well..
Image
Image
also got some arp head studs so I can turn the boost up a little bit..
Image
Image
Image
the head looked so much better after being cleaned up
Image
Image
and after an hour or so.. it went from this..
Image
to this..
Image
Image
new water pump.. thermostat..
Image
and boom belts are on
Image
now before I put this motor in.. I kind of wanted to flat black the bay or something but kind of ran out of time and money so i decided a powerwash would have to do..
Image
Image
clutch time!
Image
Image
act 6 puck sprung with fidanza aluminum flywheel
Image
Image
Image
and on goes the transmission
Image
decided to mock up the cx racing intercooler and piping when...
Image
i realized i ordered a universal kit!!
now i dont have many power tools.. like none.. and i cant weld to save my life let alone tig.. so i was kinda screwed for the time being..
but hey! the intercooler still works fine!
Image

not much left to do now but drop that mofo in there

boom baby

hopefully will get better pics of stance later..

I then installed my circuit sports flex downpipe.. running to a catco high flow cat converter.. running to a megan type-2 3" cat-back exhaust..
Image
Image
It's a very stock looking exhaust.. which is good cause its rough out here for an import..lol
I also purchased a new cx racing intercooler piping kit which came with one of those HKS SQV replicas.. I actually have a HKS SQV old school and I'm curious if one sounds better/different.. I think I'll make a youtube video out of it..
Image
Last night.. after installing the coilovers.. I installed my dohc gauge cluster.. funny that it only goes to 110 and the sohc goes to 115.. hmm..
Image
Image
and I started kind of installing/tucking the wiring harness.. I also was looking for a good "out-of-sight" spot for my solitary boost gauge.. I was thinking about here what do you guys think..?
Image
its only temporary.. i really have my heart set on a prosport set of gauges (boost, egt, oil pres.) and I really want to have broadfield make me one of his center vent gauge pods.. hopefully within a month or so.. hopefully.. that guy is such an inspiration man..
i also have to install and find a spot for this guy:
Image
he will control my 2 isis fans and act as a water temp gauge.. i got a killer deal off the classifieds for this guy..

I also bought a set of brakes off the forum classifieds..
Image
Image
evo IX i believe.. it also came with front brackets and bolts.. and a z32 master cyl...VVVVV
Image
but they are indeed five lug so I am going to wait a little bit before installing.. i need 17" or 18" rims anyways..

one HUGE problem i am running into is power steering lines..
I went to the junkyard and took everything related to power steering (i could besides the pump) off the only dohc 240sx out there.. but the hard lines were all messed up.. then the pressure hose was all messed up.. so i was back to nothing..
i finally found someone on local craigslist parting out a smashed sr hatch and i got that dohc cluster and a brand new pressure hose for $40..
My buddy said he had hard line bending/flaring tools so that we could probably make the lines ourselves.. so i went to napa with the broken hard line and the guy gave me the closest thing he could find.. but the flare end of the oem hard line is a weird inverted flare so it just wasn't going to work out...
not im just fed up with it and next week am ordering the isis stainless steel line kit which.. if i understand correctly.. eliminates both the hard line and the pressure line.. connecting the pump directly to the rack.. anyone have this?

yesterday, me and a couple friends started the wiring harness.. we got the dash plug and matched up every possible wire but there were a few left over.. a couple green ones i think.. I dont have AC and im pretty sure thats most of it but I REALLY REALLY dont want a check engine light so if anyone knows how to avoid this PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!!

Now tonight hopefully be installing walboro fuel pump.. (I bought it barely used and it looks hella small? it's probably right i just want to make sure.. sorry no pics.. also hopefully tonight we'll solder/extend the maf plug and maybe relocate a fuse box if its not too hard.. I also need to set the motor to tdc so i can put in the cam sensor.. and drill holes and finish mounting i.c. piping.. not too much left!
