When did you first have to get your brakes (or rotators) worked on?

I am just under 37k in about 2 years.

I am sure this differs on driving but I was just wondering what the average is.

I'm over 89k in 2-1/2 years and am still waiting. Maybe after I get my 90k service done next week...

I hope I can go 90k without a brake job. The rotors went 100+ on my infiniti. Pads were up there too. I usually buy cheap stuff to replace but seeing how OEM last so long I think I'll spend the extra money when the time comes.

my parents V just went over 11K, i drove it the other day and the right front brakes were squealing a bit........specially if you brake hard........

i put some brake quiet stuff on the pads in the front but the noise is still there.............

pads/rotors look fine.........

Squeaking does not mean you need new brakes. Squeaking means you have a high metallic content in the brake pads, generally. This is a very common misconception. MY original brakes lasted over 50,000 miles.

I know either the fronts or rears are pricy than the other. brake service is $230 to 280?? at my dealership. Les Schwab is a little more about $320.

Mine have squeaked occasionally. I find when I have had the car parked for a long period of time and then drive it after sitting for a couple of days it squeaks backing out of the driveway. It does not mean that the brakes need to be replaced though.

Mine did for a day, it was really odd. It sounded like the squealers were making contact with the discs, at under 20 000km... but the next day, all was normal again

I got 80 000 kms before I did my first brake job. I replaced the pads and turned the rotors. I just recently changed my original rotors with 138 000kms and I went back with OEM rotors.

Very happy with the original brakes and I teach driving in this car.

I've got 11,500 miles on my Versa and the squealing brakes started at around 10k. You can say all you want it's the metallic brakes bla blah blah. But since 2004 I've owned a 2 Toyota's, Scion, Subaru, and another Nissan and not single one ever, ever, had a problem with noise from the brakes. To me this is just another indicator of how cheap the car is and the low quality parts and care but into it. The dealership gave me the "it's normal for metallic brake s to do that." Absolute horses__t! I drive around all day next to new cars and I don't hear their brakes making a dying pig noise.

If the squeeking bothers you that much... for $50 or less you can go pick up some new (non-metallic) pads and put them on the car.

It's really not a big deal. I guess I don't understand why some brake pads are proof that the car is poorly made? They use metallic pads because they last a long time.. check out the responses from some of the other people who've posted above. Unfortunately, metallic pads are more prone to squeeking.. Which would you prefer, squeek and long life, or no squeek and short life. If you want the latter... go get some new pads and take care of it.

That's funny because I've owned 4 Nissans a Toyota a Buick and a Isuzu and all have had squealing/squeaking at some point...except my Versa.

Although I'm pretty sure my wife managed to warp a rotor already...

30k and my brakes still bite really well. With the highway driving I'm doing I'm hoping for at least 50k out of the original set.

I was really happy with my brakes. I changed the pads and turned the rotors at 85 000 kms. At 137 000 kms, I changed my rotors and they still had some "meat" on them. I went OEM rotors and I bought some ceramic pads.

Hey, DI: nice that something lasted a long time on your V.

Surprising . . . I figured you'd go through brakes like crazy!

I did my first brake job at 96k miles. That was the fronts. I think I could have gotten another 30k out of those pads. Did the rears at 146k miles. They definetly needed to be replaced. Didnt turn rotors or drums.

This is true as I've experienced this (and still do) even way before I'm at the 42K that I am at now. I haven't done a brake job as yet and seeing that the brakes are still good so I do not plan on doing that anytime soon either.

I'm right at 38000 and planning on replacing my rotors and pads this weekend. I've had vibrations in my steering column, indicating warped rotors for about 1.5 months now.
