If your gonna be stock classed, its F-Stock, which around me is dominated by F bodies and Mustangs. But hey its alot of fun. I spent the last 2 years getting killed in E Stock by a MR2 and a Miata on R compounds We were the only 3 cars in the class ever...

just remember your on street rubber abd most everyone else is running R compound, there is no real street tire can match taht kind of grip, and driver is 90% of the equation, seat time, seat time, seat time

I just ran my first one last halloween E-stock had 2 competitors, my 79 280ZX and an 87 Porche 944. I beat him by 0.018 seconds, needless to say both of us where on street rubber, but considering at the time I was on tires that where nearly 10 yr old junkyard rubber. and the shox/struts are so worn out if you stand on the bumper you can bottom out the suspentsion lol. I need to fix that...

anyway it's alot of fun, just remember to walk the track a few times, our local group does a "beginer's tour" wich is recommended but I don't know if all regions do it,I also have to admit I skipped out on that.

Good luck to yawe also have an event out here on the 20th wich I will be running.

Sorry Dave! You know that I hate the two Events are on the same day. I will be doing this auto X thing at least one more time this year. I need to get a good deal on some race rubber. Do they make a tire that would be good for both auto x and dragstrip racing?

Our Z club is going to show up as a group. Curt I'll need you to keep track of everyone and their time.

Dave, What class should I be in? Andrew said BSP.

Simple answer: no. If your class allows it, R compounds are best for autoX where DR's are obviously great at drag DR's suck at autox and R's suck at dragging . But I have had good results with a good summer tire on my AWD talon autoxing and dragging with the same tire (good enough for 1.8 60's and not being humiliated on the autox )

Quote »Dave, What class should I be in? Andrew said BSP. [/quote]It all depends whats done to the car.Any suspension that uses the stock pearches are fine for stock.Any exhaust that uses the stock cat and stock routing is fine for stock.Any wheels THE EXACT SAME SIZE as stock are fine for stock.Intakes are fine too.

Well, really anything is fine, unless you win And stock you'd be B stock, like all 350Z's or turbo Z32s.

If you have say a reprogrammed ECU and 8" wide wheels (and its smaller stock), you could be in STX

Wider tires or coilovers put you in BSP

Any boost or engine swaps put you in SM2 or E Mod.

And you could always run in F Prepared, if you have lexan windows or remove your stock ones, and you can run upto 12" wide wheels

Here's the wording from stock:13.10 ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAINA. The engine air filter element may be removed or replaced. Areplacement element which is taller than standard may not beused to hold the air cleaner cover open. No other components ofthe air induction system may be removed, replaced or modified.

So if you removed the air box you'll be street prepared if you tell anyone about it... Ofcourse if your going just for fun, it doesn't matter what class you're in And unless you win B Stock, no one will care if your in it with JUST an air filter - thers probally gonna be guys in stock with R compounds that will destroy your times anyway.

Well I am going to try and race again later this year also, so I'll be upfront with them at tech time. No big deal to me. I would rather be running against faster times to help me get better.

so auto-x was freaking awesome today. i did great, especially for my first time, to put it into perspective, i had better times than 2 other TTZ's! i got a 52.805 first run, 48.113 second run, 48.180 third run, and a 46.684 my last run, a whole 6.121 sec. improvment over my first run. i can't wait to do it again.

congradulations on ur first auto-X. and glad to hear u did well.

our group did good too with Dane (Jezter) pulling out a 40.XX? I think for a "win" in a class by himself with his 350 on his first time out

My father ran his 87 300 NA for the first time and ran a best time @46.5XX

another first timer was John with a 94? 300 2+2 who did well and posted I beleive a 48.1 with major traction issues

I had a fight in Estock with a pair of MR-2s one with race tires who posted a 41.5XX who beat my best of 44.9XX the Other MR2 was running street tires and posted a 46.XXx

after my run ALOT of the vetrans where continuously commenting on my driving ability and I didn't realize till I got homeand watched the footage exatly why.... the suspension on my car is absolutly SHOT it was on the bumpstops for almost everyturn and every throttle/brake tap.... the car looks to be INSANLY unstable.

you guys are lucky, we have a new rule where we HAVE to have the car number and class on the door of the car. so since i didn't have anything i had to use computer paper and tape it on the side of my car. but oh well, i will probably order up some magnets.

There were several M3's and a 330ci(I think). We had ofer 150 car that raced so those were just a few.

The Lotus did very well. The guy and his wife own 2 of them.
