First 300zx Need some transmission help

Short sweet version. I just bought a 300zx with a N/A JDM swap. The transmission is the original transmission from prior to the swap. The current transmission is slipping and seems to have a slight nock sound to it. I do have the other transmission from the donor JDM swap but am looking to see if the transmission in the car could be saved. I got the car in great shape for a project at 1400.00 so I am off to great start with funds for this project. I just want to see if I need to complete the other transmission swap or if there is a way to save myself some time and jump into something else.
