Hey guys, my name is Jay. I'm 17 and I'm pretty new to NICO. I just got my first 240 about 4 weeks ago when I sold my Isuzu Rodeo, but haven't had the time to post yet. I'm really excited about it, since I've wanted one since I was 11 probably (18 in April). Anyway, it's my first sports car, and I'm looking forward to many years of working on it.

Someone who owned it before me had some terrible exhaust on it. It was welded to the car instead of using the hangers, but oh well. After 6 awesome hours under the car, my brother and I finally managed to get the Dual N1 on it. I've had alot of stuff break or go bad in those 4 weeks but I guess that's typically how it goes. haha Seems to be running really well now though so I'm excited to keep adding to it. Here are some pictures. (needs paint!)

Sorry for the picture size! I don't know how to fix it

Thanks guys.

Yeah I had to do some comfort stuff first, so after the exhaust (which helped it run SO much better) I went ahead and did some audio stuff cause those '93 speakers just weren't cutting it. haha a few other minor things as well. A cylinder went down on me last week actually so I had to get a new fuel injector and wires. My alternator went bad the week after I had it and then my battery crapped out right after haha but that seems to be the last of the immediate issues.

Performance stuff though? I do plan on doing the sr20 after a while. This KA has 210K miles on it, so an sr will definitley be replacing it down the road. Next up is wheels and springs. I don't have alot of money to spare so I'll probably end up doing 962s in 18s. After that a clutch probably. It came with an intake on it already so that was nice. I don't know what I'll do performance wise after that cause I'll be planning on the SR but my brother is kind of guiding me through the process. Any suggestions?

Aside from that, I'm going to do the type x tail lights then start fixing up some minor stuff. For instance there is a crack in my windshield and dash so I'll replace those. There's other stuff like that on the interior although overall it's in really good shape. After that I'll probably do the type x front and side skirts.. all while I save for the sr of course. Oh and there is a tiny dent in the back left and some minor paint and cosmetic issues so I'll be getting it repainted (black) and have that dent fixed. As of now I'm just kinda goin with it but that's the general plan.

Feel free to make suggestions or point out anything dumb I may have said. haha

The engine bay is just dirty. lol but I'll take one tomorrow if I get a chance. I'll get some pictures of the interior too. It's in really good shape. Only thing wrong is the windshield crack and a really subtledash crack in front of the steering wheel.

Haha as of now I plan on doing an SR, but that's quite a bit down the road. So who knows, by then I could change my mind and decide to go Ka-t. I'll definitley have plenty of time to do plenty of research on it.

It actually runs surprisingly well for having so many miles. When I first got it, it seemed really sluggish, like it was hestitating to get up and go. When I replaced his crap a** exhaust job though it helped ALOT. Just have some money to the side to replace a bunch of random stuff that will go wrong. The guy who sold it to me said he never had a problem with it. Within the next 3 weeks my battery went bad, wouldn't start, i needed a new alternator, I need new wires for something (my brother helped me) when the cylinder went down, then I needed a new fuel injector. So just be prepared for random stuff to go bad if it has that many miles.

Not that it has anything to do with how it runs, but I also had to disconnect the wire that makes the lights at your feet turn on when your door is open. It took me 2 weeks to figure out that one of the caps on the little button that tells your car the door is shut was missing. So even though my doors were shut the button wasnt being pressed so the light was staying on all night which destroyed my battery. I'm glad he told me about that problem. I tried taping it down, then decided it was better just to disconnect it so it didn't even come on.

It runs smooth though. I'm really happy with her.

Welcome to the darkside. And by darkside I mean car forums of course. You started posting, and pics no less, they aren't ever going to leave you alone now. I keep my history old, my post count low, and love to read.

by the way.. a tip: nobody, especially on Nico, is going to agree or convince you what the best engine choice is. It all depends on what you want to do with the car, how much money you have, and how difficult you want the work to be. Sr or Ka-t. both have plus and minus, Rb26 or Vq 35, both have plus or minus, Ls1 or 2jz swap.. both have plus and minus. And to demonstrate that point, im sure after the post atleast a couple people will comment on the above listed choices. Just keep that in the back of your mind when people fight to the death about what you should put in your car.

And guys... He is 18 in a month, freshman in college soon, this is going to be a build that is going to take some time. Atleast he is concerned with making it look, run, and feel right. So even if it doesnt have a lot done, it should be right, and should be clean, and thats always good to see.
