1 month into the the '91 Q45T and going beautifully. Unfortunately, my job is only a 10 minute commute from my house. I find myself taken a roundabout way home for pleasure and stress relief.

Thanks everybody for all advice, especially about the emergency brake use when parking on my sloped driveway. Works like a charm. Smooth transition from P to R. :D

one or two concerns/questions:

Obviously guide chains are issue if they have not been done. I am correct in assuming that the engine cover must be opened tocheck to see if guides ben done? About $600 quoted by my mech. Maybe I could take a trip upstate and try and bribe 1qckser and Qship with beer and women to take a look at my car! :icesangel

I get the slight gas fumes inside and out, assume some under plenum work. More $$$ Transmission seems to slightly hesitate going from 2 to3 and kinda jerks going into 4. Gas mileage has been only about 250 miles per tankful. Too much local driving. I need to go on road trips. And please, No More Snow!! I thought putting it in 1st gear would help me get up a hill. Bad decision.

Thanks again guys (gals,if any). Can I dub you Q-heads? I like that

If you read the previous posts on fuel pumps, you will realize it is not a good idea to let the tank go to empty before filling it.

Do determine the timing chain guide issue status before you drive much further. Decaying guide pieces in the sump are no aid to longevity.

Visit http://q.spilky.com/irl.xls (Excel spreadsheet) to learn about some of the initial expenses involved with owning your Q45. I am still working on initial costs (chain guides next big item) and eventually will start working on enhancements as opposed to repairs.

Bought my 92 in April 03 for $3800, put just under $5000 into it. Acquired with 169k, now at 183k.

Right now, I'd say, to save yourself trouble down the road, flush your transmission ASAP, clean out the pan, change the filter, use Mobil 1 ATF. This is all assuming that your fluid is still somewhat clean. Mine was getting a little pinkish (faded color) when I did mine.

If the fuel pump is noisy, change it, along with the fuel filter, and clean out the gas tank before youre left stranded (like me).

Check all belts and PULLEYS (I was left stranded, again).

Dont put things off, and this will be perhaps the most rewarding ownership experience you'll ever have. :)

Downtempo, no bribing is neccesary, always willing to help a fellow Q owner out, email your phone number, get that transmission flushed, my car has the same prob but got better once I flushed it, I however prepaired for when the time comes and the transmission goes I have a spare to take its place, give either I or Q Ship an email, seeya.

This applies especially to the status of the chain guides, right, Jesda?__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45
