firewall insulation

i was thinking off tearing out the black insulation and padding from the passegerside firewall now that ive removed the mice nest from my fan and gutted the ac. any reason i shouldnt do this. the stuffs sorta heavy. also i want to see where the water collecting under the carpet is coming from.
