I am looking to replace the OE Bridgestone Potenza RE050A on my '11 M56S with another high performance summer tire. I like the OE tires except that I find them to be too loud. Did some research on the internet and came across the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 with very good reviews and excellent prices. Was wondering if anybody else is running these and if you can provide any feedback. thanks!

Toyo has a nice performance tire that I am running on my M56S and it is quite and rides very smooth.

Unless it's rated highly by Tirerack (all green scores), I don't buy it. That being said, Pirelli Cinturato P7...

I agree. Check Tire Rack. Excellent reviews with videos on a wide assortment of tires. I personally would avoid Goodyear, Firestone, and Cooper on the basis of quality, life span, and road worthiness. Stick to Pirelli, Hankook, and Michelin. Maybe Dunlop.

I had a set of Toyo's Proxy ST on my 2006 M35 bought a Les Schwab (they were 19") because that's what the Sport wheels were in 2006. Quieted the ride considerably, had good stiffness in the corners and good wear and tear. The set 4 was also a 300.00 less expensive than the Pirelli but if you don't care about price I agree Pirelli or Hankook are a superior quality.
**Customer Service means a lot to me and Les Schwab has always taken care of me no questions asked, flat repair, alignment and brakes, giving me huge discounts or free work because I buy their tires and brakes. Sometimes its the relationship with the dealer not the product results counts as much as the performance**
-my 2 cents

Thanks for your input guys. Still looking into it...will let you know what I decide.
FYI, the Firehawk Indy 500 did very well on Tire Rack's test : https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/te ... p?ttid=217

The scores are indeed good. I'm assuming you have a dedicated winter set of wheels/tires if you're looking at summer tires? If so, cool. If not, I highly recommend the Pirelli Cinturato P7's...I live in upstate NY just a few hours south of you and they do great in our winters.

Yes, dedicated winter tires (it's the law here in Quebec). I have 18'' Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 without the studs and they perform very well in the snow/slush/ice that we see. The Nokian's are actually quieter than the OE Bridgestones!! That is why I am looking for a quieter summer tire that performs well and has decent tread life.

Gotcha, yeah one day I'll get myself a dedicated set as well...maybe when I get a house instead of apartments. Have always eyed those Nokians myself.
