stopped working mysteriously after a security update. the new beta version dont work either. I have my firewall turned off. Can I return to the previous state?

Did you try a reboot?

Also, try a ctrl-alt-delete and see if the firefox process is still running (if so, end it and see if that fixes the problem)? I have seen this get me before.

tried both. the problem is that it opens up just fine, I just cant get connected to any servers.

a little late but have you tried looking over:

Hit a similar snag with FF3b5 and turned out to be a firewall issue.
