Has anyone had a fire under the hood of your Versa? When I got home from work 2nite my wife informed me that when she pulled into the driveway this afternoon she smelled burning rubber and smoke was coming inside the car and out from under the hood. I checked it out and it does smell like burning rubber or wires but it was dark and I couldn't get enough lite to figure out what happened. I will be taking it to the Nissan Dealership in the morning, but if anyone could help me out on why this could have happened i would greatly appreciate it.

Could be many things... Maybe a leak in a coolant line. That would explain the smoke and the smell. I'm definitely thinking it's a leak of some sort. Looking forward to hearing the verdict tomorrow, Nissan will take care of you I'm sure. Sorry that happened to your ride though.

Many people (including myself) have noticed a burning rubber smell coming from the left/rear wheelwell. Mine still has this problem after 25,000 miles, and so far, no fire (or smoke). I only know of one Versa catching fire (from this area), I attribute it to the large muffler being stuffed in a location with very little ventilation, and too much rubberized undercoating being applied to the area. When your Versa bursts into flames, definitely get some pics!
