Work/school/life is finally allowing me to finish my car and as I near completion, I find myself running in to a few roadblocks.

I had to borrow these images from Positron's post and hope he's ok with that, if not, I'll take them down. I did not have a data transfer cable available and needed to find out the answers to this stuff...so thanks Positron.

On the piece that holds the Coolant Temp Sensor and connects to the head, I could not find a gasket for it. In this pic, you can see there is a gasket, but I have been unable to find one online. Can I use red RTV for this or does it require a gasket?

Here's the pic...Referring to the area a little to the right of the wrench.

Also, I ordered new studs for my turbo where it meets with the 02 housing/downpipe. I ordered 5 new studs and locking nuts from frsport. My question is how do you install studs properly? I've never had to do it except for on my head. Hand tighten, then torque to spec, and the torque should fit it snuggly or is there a better way to ensure a good fit?

Thanks!!

Its just rtv.

both surfaces are smooth flat, so I just put a little ring around the hole, and clamp it flat. When I mean little, I mean not very much at all, just a swipe. After all 99% of its going to be pressed out.

as for the studs, I think you got it, hand tighten then torque.

Thanks. Thats what I was thinking... It just looked like Positron managed to get a gasket for it but it may just be gray RTV. I used the red RTV and did basically the same thing you recommended..

As for the studs, any one else care to confirm? Just want to make sure it all goes together as smoothly as possible.

Thanks for the replies.

Install the studs as you would any other stud. The best way to do it is to take two nuts and thread them onto the stud without bottoming them on the shank. Then tighten them against each other. Since they're tightened to each other, you can use a wrench to tighten the stud down by the nuts.

When you're done, just loosen the nuts from each other and thread them off.

Also, I prefer to use black RTV (I really like Toyota sealant) and it's in my DIY for rebuilding a motor
