I finally got the car back from the body shop and they unbent the frame from the crash and installed the s15 radiator support. they installed the pieces and I've been keeping it at home for the most part since it isn't painted yet. The conversion fenders were from VIS (which i've heard bad things about). The fitment is ok but not great in my opinion. I want to know what fellow nico members think. I am trying to decide whether to try to modify these fenders to fit perfectly or to spend the bundle of cash on MASA fenders. Any MASA owners please tell me if they fit much better then mine. thanks!

in one of the pics you can see me copying Kenta's shoes from initial D.

i think it looks good... from about twenty feet away. the quality of those fenders are shlt. it will take LOTS of time to finesse the fit of those fenders to oem fitment. it can be done, but with lots of time. i think the red one looks better anyways...

hmm...maybe once you get some dark paint on there you won't be able to notice so much.

congrats on the conversion. looks good to me. I also think that paint will hide some of the blemishes. Those who are not in the know will not even nothice it though.

Did you know VIS had bad reviews, and if so, why go with them?

I didnt know about their bad reviews until after i got them..unfortunately. I want the fitment to be near perfect for me. Noone really notices, even in my car clubs here in town but for me I want it to fit really good. I dont know if I can justify spending another 600 for MASA fenders when I dont know if they'll be a whole lot better. Does anyone have any pics up close of their fitment?

once you spray on a dark base and add clear to the surface, every imperfection will show x20. i would just stick with what you have, and find someone that knows what theyre doing to perfect the fit and shape of the fenders. what are you gonna do when you order another set and you have the same problem?

I say mold them like the guy has and then take a dremel disc to have the seperation if you need to take them off. Don't stuff the hole with bondo, make sure you have the metal sheet with holes before. I am not a fan of the s14.5 to begin with, it just does not flow that well, but if you want perfection, it costs alot.

leave that **** alone, and instead of paying 600 for more fenders, get skirts and a rear bumper. nobodys gonna care if your fenders line up with the A pillar when the car looks like crap because its bone stock minus a front bumper.

im after perfection, I dont go driving it around unless im drifting so it'll stay home until its complete. I need to finish the front before I buy the kouki wing side skirts and rear bumper.

Does anyone know where to go to in nor cal in regards to who is good at modifying fiberglass to fit better? Or does anyone know how to go about modifying them myself. Time spent or money spent isn't really a conern, I will do what it takes to get what I'm after.

Yes they're VIS stuff. I was having a hard time deciding whether to go for the xwest style or the style I got.

I say stick with what you have. If you know a good body man maybe he could do something about the fenders.

too much, everything with the shipping, bumper support being welded in and install of all the parts, $3000 about...and it's still not perfect, let alone painted and done. By the time I'm done with teh rest of the kit, the wing, and paint, I will have probably spent $5000 or more.

rear quarter panels are for sissies pfft. Actually I have an entire rear quarter section of another s14 i got so fix that, the body guy who did the frame work in the front is doing the quarter panel also.

I also noticed from your little sig quote that you were with us last weekend. You were talking about yee and the guy jeremy with the exploding radiator trick. Which car were you?

LOL ya jeremy wont learn his lesson about overheating. I dont know how many times its gonna overheat on him before he realises he might actually need to fix something.

I was rollin with todd since I got 2 more weeks before I can drive my car again

Edit: in the sig mike would be me

I think it's pretty decent.Only thing I suggest is sand down some of the spots to make it look a little better.Other than that paint and have fun.Unless you got someone ready to buy it deal with the little imperfections IMO.But it may look worse in person and I would freak out over it too.
