finding struts

Hey Dudes I am new to the seen here got me a new project car a J30 its a real junker. I am working on getting it back on the road need parts and advice so if you pros out there can help I will be most grateful. Main prob is I need struts the dealer wants 600. I did some checking was told a Maxima of the same year should have the same parts is this true as Maxima parts are much cheaper and easier to come by.

240ZX struts will work fine in the rear.
Search for a post about the fronts.
Takes a bit of fabbing but a helluva lot cheaper !!

Like Yoda said, if you want install front struts from another Nissan vehicle then custon fabricate Maxima struts, if you want to do a straight bolt on replacement, bite the bullet and pay the dealer part prices.

Too cool Mr Mean green but since my money is funny and I got fix my honey I got to be a creep and go cheep on this bo peep.

Welding ?? I got 2 bolts and a center stud the bottom has 1 big bolt that mounts to the frame as long as the center stud fits and the bottom bolt I should be in the money no??? what up wit this self leveling do all the struts used on this car need to be self leveling ?? I can get you a price on OEM through the dealership I use, will be much cheaper than the quote they gave you. Just need a vin# to get the right parts.

Or do you need the VIN for anything ??
All J's use the same strut cartridge.

oh mighty yoda aka mr green send some force my way I switched out the struts did a junk yard swap it all hooked up sweet but like before the driver side rear wheal is still low was told it might be a bent sway bar or bent frame with the frame it would not be just the one wheel?? bent sway how can you test or tell ??? oh mighty on please send me you guiding force

The strut doesn't control the height.
Either a worn out/cracked spring or a bent up sway bar ??

We J owners tend to get Boned on OEM parts.
At least on the struts..
You would think they would want to clear out the stock.
Surely its been in a warehouse for YEARS !!
