Hi, where are my best chances of finding an opthamologist or eye specialist ASAP or 1st thing in the am?

My friend was in a major car accident yesterday but released from the hospital pretty shortly with some stitches.

Now she is experiencing blurred vision in 1 eye and pain from any light. There is also some redness in that eye (and earlier throbbing pain behind the eye which has since gone away).

I googled and found the NY Eye & Ear Infirmary which claims it is open 24hrs but no one is answering the phone now. I fear going there or any ER will just mean a 3 to 4+ hr wait to see a specialist.

I went to the Aetna docfinder and there are 500+ opthamologists in NYC.

How can I find an appointment with an eye care specialist ASAP for the morning in NYC?

it appears im a little to late... how'd it turn out?

You better have went straight to the ER, don't go asking "where to get this fixed" on someone whos almost blind. This is an emergency, and there is a room for that.

It turned out fine, thankfully.

The reason to go straight to an opthamologist was (A) to avoid spending the whole day in the ER, which is incredibly uncomfortable for someone who had just been discharged from the hospital the previous day, and (B) she had spoken to her uncle who is an opthamologist but not in NYC, and they were pretty sure of what the condition was, that it was going to require some prescriptions but thankfully nothing more.
