I bought a S15-R HLSD swapped into a J30 pumpkin (which should be bolt on for the S13, but I'll have to put it all back together again anyways since it had to be disassembled for shipment since it was so heavy), and a set of 48:11 (4.36363..) ring/pinion gears, which is what our CAs are meant to have.

Finally all the parts have arrived. My J30 / S15 hybrid pumpkin (in peices), which came w/ the output shafts, plus the NISMO diff bolts to make the 13mm diamter HLSD work w/ the 12mm bolt hole ring gear (the bolts screw into the gear, not the HLSD, so the bolts taper down from 13 to 12mm), along with the ring gear/pinion of course and on top of it all the J30 pumpkin came w/ driveshafts, so hopefully they'll bolt straight on and I won't have to go junkyard hunting for ones that fit

damn thanks for sharing Bio! Part #'s and everything Useful knowledge for anyone in the future...

if anyone is interested there is a guy in the classified section selling that 48:11 (4.36:1) ring and pinion set new in the box for $300. I'd get it if I had some money laying around.

Can I be the bearer of bad news?

I'm about 75% sure that you HAVE to use S15 outputshafts.

Sorry....

Can't you see the damn S15 shafts in the damn S15 HLSD?

Like I said, this came from a pumpkin that had been internals-swapped to S15 parts, complete w/ the output shafts and axles.

well these seem to fit fine.

and they came as a set that was already in the pumpkin, fully put together - they're just apart because its insanely expensive to ship them that way.

and for anyone who got confused on J30 earlier fyi I meant Infiniti J30 aka the A31 Cefiro in japan, stock they'd have the same pumpkin, this is one that someone in japan swapped stuff around. Altho now that I think about it, not the same vehicle (however they share many components, such as rear drivetrain bits).

I've been doing some research and definately seeing 3x2 output shafts on S15's but there's a total of 3 sets of left and right shafts for the S15, depending on year for MT (2 of the sets) and if its AT (1 set). all the MT use the same (only vary by year) shafts, whether open, VLSD, or HLSD - and since the AT has different shafts and uses the same VLSD as MT, this means the splines are interchangable. Could be AT has 5 bolt isntead of 3x2 and since that was what was on that person's A31 they used the auto output shafts.

still looking into it but I know the parts fit together.

the 6 bolts (3x2) are the normal S15 stuff. still not sure where these 5 bolts come from, but they DO fit. same spline # / diameter and proper length etc.

Hey, I'm GLAD to hear that. It's not like I didn't want this to work for you! I was just worried that something was wrong and you were going to toast that beautiful diff.

Anyway, keep us updated and let us know what it's like.

Remember, if you're in the snow/mud and start to spin, just set the e-brake a little and you'll be all set! LOL...

They generally go for like ~4000 yen on yahoo japan, but I checked with my connection to japan and can get them for $50 shipped to you if you want them. Now, I'm not about to go into business importing parts (I've got a friend who does that sort of thing for Proteges, and I just haven't the time / energy for it) but for occasional and small things like this I've no problem acting as the intermediary.. is anyone else interested in them? they're only useful if you've got a S15 (or same type, at least one variation of R has it, forgot which.. not GT-R, one of the RB25 models I think) HLSD and want to use an older 12mm bolt R200 ring gear / pinion combo (i.e. for the 4.363 ratio), let me know and we can organize something.. basicly they'd be coming in the next couple of weeks w/ some other things (so the shipping is basicly nonissue) and then I just stuff them in priority mail pouches or something and send them to ya..

offhand I'm not sure what sort of timeframe there'd be before it'd have to be sent seperately (and possibly cost a few more bucks to do so), but if you're still interested I'll dig a little deeper and get more details..

if its from a CA, its definately 12mm. Only the newer diff's like in R34, S15, etc use 13mm .. not sure what all vehicles, but if its from anything S13, S14, etc older it is going to be 12mm.

well, if theres time before you need to know, id rather wait and take teh micrometer to it (i just sent the money for the gears, so i should be receiveing by next weekend, can you wait that long before you need to know?

if it has to be sooner, ill take them. ... better to have and not need than to need and not have
