My car is almost done!

I say almost because it is drive-a-ble now.. I just need to reroute my heater hose to the heater core but the mechanic is going to japan for a week and so they can't do it now since the motor is in and all..

Here is the low down on what happened to my car over the last 3 and a half months

I took my car in to RPM Motorworks in Anaheim in October

They were supposed to get the swap done in 2-3 weeks.. (promised)

they had to wait for the motors (understood, since almost everyone was having delay's because of it)The motor came is and they took my motor out..I kept on calling every day to see what is going on and they kept telling me that they are working on it but for somce reason every time I went to the place my car was left outside with the windows open in the same sopt!!!!

by the end of 2 and a half months I got irritated by all the lies and bull siht they were giving me and called up my friend at a company who is their supplier for some stuff and he got on their cases... they finally got some crap together but didn't know what they were doing with the wiring..

so they had Phase2 come out and do it for them!!!

all this time they kept on lying to me and giving me the run-a-rounds

after 3 months... my car was "done"

I say it like that is because when I went there to pick it up.. it ran like crap..the speedometer was not workingcar was over heatingoil pan was not fixedHeater not workingheater hoses had some major kinksoil leaking from somewhereheater core not plugged in at allair conditioning not working at all no clutch fanelectric fan wiring jacked up...janky jobalright wiring job (not the best but not the worst)miss-aligned hoodmy side skirt was craked pretty badscrathes all over the side of the car and hood and on the truckNever tuned it nor drove it

I drove it home because he kept on saying leave it over night and I was sick and tierd of leaving it there

meanwhile I almost got in a fight with another guys in the shop becaue he said I already had the broken kit and scratcheson the car when I took it in there.

they told me "well work it out" meaning they will pay a part and I pay a part! which is BULLSIHT!

I paid with a CC and denied the charges once I got home

I called Phase2 to have a look and see what else was wrong with the car because the car broke down while I was driving home from work...

They couldn't do it because they were extreemly busy...I got the car to run again at home by just going through the entire engine bay and double checking all the plugs and making sure they were good...

I called up AUtolink Motor Works in Temple city

they were very helpfull... unfortunetly they couldn't get myc ar in untill after new year.

I dropped my car off on Friday the 2nd thereTheir 240 guy is going to Japan for a week and a half Tomorrow so he had a few days to work on it and they are closed on Tuesdays (I was thinking GREAT)

BUT they worked on it on friday night and Saturday some and Yesterday they were there till 10:30 when they called me to tell me it ws done!!

That is awesome because they promised my car would be done in a short time and they came through!!!!!

Out of the 2 and a half months my car was at RPM I never once got a call from them.. I had to call them everyday untill I looked like the A-Hole

to sun it up.. my car id done.. I will be picking it up Wednesday and driving it around untill the mech is back in about 2 weeks and take it back for them to fix the heater hose..

there were a lot of minor problems that they at Autolink discovered and fixed... I will list them at a later point when I get the car adn pay for the stuff

sorry for the long *** novel of a post....

You get what you pay for... I went with RPM because of it being cheaper but I paid for the swap more and it was worth..

all the headaches/irritation/phone calls/fights

and to top it all I did have to pay more to fix the problems and have a cracked kit and scratched up car!!!

This goes out to all who want to get major work done to your cars

either do it yourself!!!! or go to a credited shop!!

pay the price and you will get the results!!!!

you get what you pay for keeps ringing in my ear! from now on, if I buy anything it is going to be quality... even if I have to wait 12 more months to get the money together!

Glad it worked out for you eventually. I'm about to get a swap done also and I was tempted to go with a "cheaper" shop, but after coming to my senses, I'm going with a really great shop here in Tampa.

I'll let everyone know how well it turns out. I'm expecting some great things from these guys. I talked to two of their customers the other day...and theys guys couldn't say enough good things about the mechanic and the staff. That was what clenched it for me.

I will be coming to Houston a few times a year since my inlaws live in Katie...

Let me know when you come out here... I'll set up a grand welcome/NICO meet for us... (if you bring your car) and if not then just a NICO meet :D

Sort of on the subject, we have allot of NICO members here in the texas area...why not have a NICO meet here instead of AZ or where ever else you guys have had them. Just a thought/suggestion. Preferebly the Houston area.

I know how it is to get screwed out of some major money for something getting done on your car. Its great to hear you have it running the way it should be.

No offense intended Anand, but you were the least person i'd expect to see this happen to.

There's been a lot of horror stories on Nico about mechanics/installers as of late.

Best to pay out of your a** to have it done by a reputable shop, or to do it yourself.. like you said.

Hope stuff works out for you and your car!:)

no offense taken.. but yea, I thought the same thing but it happens to the best of us.

you get a recomendation from one person and don't check into the place and next thing you know... you are bent over a chair and they are sticking it to you without any lube...

ehh.. you live and learn.. it wasn't a complete horrible story youknow? I was affraid I would have had a bad engine or something.. so I have tons of little stuff but the major things are alright...

Hey, I live in Riverside, not far from all those places.

Anyway, sorry about your experience with a horrible shop. Some of my friends have had similar experiences with supposedly reputable shops as well. If any prospective SoCal people are looking for a shop to do a swap, Phase2 is definitely teh shiznit, as well as Cartunemotorsports.com, who specialize specifically in SR swaps.

living in socal your chances of getting a cruby shop is greater, every shop thinks they can do it here...Autolink is a good shop but sometimes are expensive, unless they know you, my friend got his swap there and i think he over paid, but i have to give it to them it's a good job...

Maybe since they cracked your side skirt you will get rid of the godawful bomex crap, and spend some money on getting some real wheels and 5 lug conversion.

Leave the SR20 stock and get to work on the other stuff.

You need to register for a drift day.

haha... you wish... I'm getting ridd of my kit that easy..:D

I'll be ghetto fabulous! bahh on the wheels and 5 lugs... :)

I will definetly register for the next DD.... Ryan you need ot see if anyone can help me rerout the heater hose form behind the engine and plug it in to the heater core....

but I drove it and it works awesome... it still misses some but Autolink said it's because something was going bad and i might need new one.

in any case, I have no oil leaks, speedometer works, no overheating, no laging.... 100000000 X better and it takes off!!!!!
