hey all,

just wanted to say thanks to all those who helped me out via nicoclub and emails with my questions. especially skillzilla and his write-up (http://racebread.com/files.htm, and its clearly marked rb20det into s13 by skillzilla), very easy and clean writeup for any new guys trying to put in an rb20det into an s13. she just fired up today, i was getting her to turn but not start and i realized there was an issue with my ignition relay wire.

"10) Using your voltmeter, find a wire from the S13 grey plug that shows 12V when the key is in the ON position and 0V when the key is off. Also, ensure it remains at 12V when the key is in the START position. Connect this wire to the white/purple from the RB harness. This will tell the ignition relay when to turn on."

i found the said wire in the brown plug by the fuse box, NOT the grey plug, just incase anyone uses this write up and has the same problem.

anyway, pictures will come soon, still waiting on my koyo to come in the mail, and then its off to get paint. give me a week or so and i should have pics up.

by the way, i will also be trying to put in a maxima gauge cluster with the white faces, and see if that works so i can avoid the resistor for the KA gauges, ill let you guys know if it works.

Lol, wow... thats funny, i had the same problem with the grey injector power wire on my RB25DET... i sent my wiring harness to wiring specialists, and when i go the harness back, i took the entire thing apart.... as in i took off all the tape and looming, and looked at all the wiring and how they did it. Then i noticed that the grey wire hadnt been soldered and shrink wrapped, at the time, i had no idea what the wire went to, so i retaped the entire harness and reloomed it becuase i had to extend a a few wires becuase of the greddy intake manifold. I left the gray wire unconnected at the firewall sticking out of the harness just in case... The car wouldnt start,we checked everything, and then.... iwas like... AH oh yeah! That grey wire isnt hooked up... sure enough, i twisted it together and it fired right up!

Hes not talking about the RB25 grey injector power wire, hes talking about the RB20 ECU switched power source. Instead of tearing into the fuse block I decided to use one of the wires on the brown plug, the same one with the blk/pnk fuel pump wire. Made it a lot cleaner and worked like a charm.
