I did the same today. #2's lands were totally destroyed. 3 and 4s rings were cracked. 1 was in perfect condition.

whatever caused your stock motor to do this, just make sure and fix it. Even with forged internals, if you run lean enough, they will take a crap on you also. haha, ive done it before.Just get it to the dyno afterwards and tune!

detonation killed mine... that's what you get from a 19PSI spike on a stock+FMU fuel system.

Detonation killed my rings and head gasket... then water got in to the oil... lot's of it... then the crank bearings crapped out.

Now I just hope the turbo survived

definately got to keep good boost control. How did you boost creep? Was there a problem witht he wastegate or is it rerouted back into the downpipe funny or what?

my manifold seemed to be my problem. too much restriction in the wastegate runner. Hopefully I fixed that, and we'll see next time I guess.

WOW! Didn't you just build your engine?!! Hopefully you didn't destroy the ring lands altogether. I just couldn't believe that every single one of my ring lands was destroyed, LOL.

The engine was built March-June 2003. And my mechanic didn't say a thing about needing new pistons so I'm sure that the pistons thus ringlands are ok. Probably the rings are ok too but he doesn't like to reuse them.

I'm going to the shop on Saturday (of course pics will be taken) to check what is busted and what I need to buy ... the company is sending me to USA in about a week so timing couldn't be better.
