Wow.. Cindy.. That car is so clean! Nothing better than a clean black car!

Man I wish my car's paint was shiny and clean like that. What a difference it makes!

Your 'vert top looks really clean as well. No rips in the cloth, no fading, the back window is not cloudy or ripped.. Very nice.

Your door panels aren't even falling apart!! That's so not fair.

You are lucky to have such a clean 'vert. Keep up the good work on it.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...and the car ain't bad either

I've never seen door panels before that looked like that. I thought mine looked good but yours look even better.

Welcome aboard. Was yours an import from the states? It doesn't look like you have the Canadian driving lights in your bumper.

WOW what a response from all you guys...makes me wonder what's wrong with CAD guys, I don't get responses like that here at home!!! Too bad!!! Okay there were LOTS of questions about my car...so I will try to answer them ALL here. I need to learn how to get multiple quotes into a message but I don't know how yet!

Well there is a story about my car! As a single mom on a budget I used to drive a 1981 VW rabbit convertible, (yep 26 years old...but looked good! runs good too!) but it was starting to cost a lot in repairs to the parts! One day a lender friend of mine at work got me thinking about what I could afford for a new car (which wasn't much) $200.00 a month TOPS!!! He figured out for me that I could get a loan for $10,000.00 over 5 years, so I started looking! When I saw my car online I KNEW it was the one for me! The guy wanted $8000.00 CAD (in the shape that it was). I started to ask questions and over the phone sight unseen got him down to $5000.00! I was pretty proud of myself! Yes it was an import to CAD from Seattle! It was a leased car before I got it. And it sat for a year or so on the lot!

When I got there it was in rough shape! Seriously!!! There was mold growing on the seats and roof and a great big patch on the roof! It was leaking and the body was in rough shape! I had brought my dad with me and I had done my homework and knew what they went for in the states in GREAT shape! (I didn't know there were CAD ones!) Together my dad and I talked him down to $3950.00 CAD (the guy was mad my dad and him were yelling at each other...but we GOT it!!!! He couldn't argue with the evidence I brought with me...so it pays to do your homework!!!) which gave me the rest of the loan to play with and fix up the car and STILL my payment is $111.00 every two weeks (I think that is some kinda lucky number!!!) $222. a month (right on budget!)!!!

So with the rest of the loan I got a new roof (which I negotiated from $920.00 CAD to $690. CAD for materials) the paint job and body work (just over $3000. at Maaco...believe it or not) got the car cleaned professionally inside ($200.00) including a treatment to kill mold, got seat covers ($60.00) (will want to covert seats to leather/vinyl one day and panels too), got an alarm installed ($800.00) and now I just want to complete it with the boot (there she goes again!) I've gone over the $10,000.00 a bit now, but love the car so much...and you guys made me feel SO proud about all I have done to it! I truly AM my father's daughter! He taught me well about taking car of cars!!! (The VW was his first!!!) I've been a convertible girl since I was 14 and am looking forward to continually upgrading my girl!

Wow! Paint job looks really good although it's done by Maaco. Yeah, I've heard horror stories too.

5 year gloss warranty...yeah I know I heard them too...other places wanted $5000.00 for the paint and I just couldn't afford that! So I went with Maaco and crossed my fingers! I DID get the very best package they offered, so hopefully the horror stories are from people who went with the "cheap" Maaco packages (one of which was only $800.00).

If it ends up bad...I will likely get it professionally X-Koted it in a few years. Has anyone had experience with X-Kote? Is it really as good as it says?

I can tell there is SOME kinda story here! Something about Dexter and Seth being CAD but NOT??? And as far as worrying about offending me??? Listen...I would never be offended about anyone WANTING to be a CAD...we ROCK!!!! Laughing!

Dex practically lives on the Canadian border. I'm not sure about Seth; all I really know about Green Bay, WI is that it gets ridiculously cold and is populated with rabid football fans.

I'm not sure why Dex is so adamant about not being Canadian; some of the best stuff comes from Canada. Like Tim Horton's and Cowboy Junkies. But then again, you also sent us Celine Dion.

some random thoughts:

you go to heck and be warm for a while, ish!

dunkin' donuts was fine... why they needed to replace them all with tim hortons, i don't know...

i don't like french fries and gravy.

you forgot molson...

socialized medicine ftmfl!

what are cowboy junkies? i'll have to google that one...

[lee_greenwood music]...i'm proud to be an american, where at least i know i'm free. and i won't forget them men who died... [/lee_greenwood music]

OMG I TOTALLY laughed when you reminded me of Dunkin Donuts!!!

Not sure what they were like where you are , but they were all DIVES here!!!! Hard core...DIVES! Dirty, scummy...feet sticking to the floor kinda dives!!! Now Tim's I can be proud of!!!!

Seriously though...I DO apologize for that whole Celine thing...I am so NOT a fan!!! I am more of a Bare Naked Ladies kinda girl (now if you don't know who they are you REALLY SHOULD google them! They aren't afraid to tell CAD's where we went wrong...and still be proud!). Or of course Jan Arden...now SHE is someone to CAD can be proud of...not only an amazing voice...but she has something REAL to say to!

Now Dex... I was really only teasing you... I have to say I'm GLAD you are proud...you SHOULD be proud...I wish more CADs felt that pride the way Americans do! Don't get me wrong...we are proud...just not as FIERCELY proud as you all...and I envy that! (In a good way)

Honestly, I couldn't imagine living in a better place in the whole world (and by that I mean HERE...BC Canada...I am SO lucky...I have beaches and mountains and the US border all within an hour drive) saying that I also know...a lot of our freedom is due to America! (And I have to give credit our boys too). I think we CADs are fortunate be your neighbours...your strength creates a shadow over us in some ways, and yet at the same time...offers much protection. I personally do not take that for granted.

PS... rather than going to heck to be warm...I'd rather go to Florida

Tim's > Dunkin Donuts (and most other chains, for that matter)

The Québécois seem to be pretty patriotic (about their province, at least).
