Hello all. I'm introducing myself and my 1991 240sx I bought yesterday night. I found the car on craigslist on 1/31 and bought it the day after. It's Misty Blue Metallic with ONLY 53,200 miles. Clean title. The original owner inherited it from his father who passed away. He served in some sort of armed forces as there is a sticker with a serial number from the Department of Defense, and another that says "Naval graduate school".

I have been lurking on these forums for well over a year now, but posted rarely because I did not own a 240, nor do I know a lot. This car is clean stock and I intend on leaving it like that.. I guess this is a "Fix when broken " build thread.

EDIT: I actually forgot to introduce myself. I'm 17 (I know..) and before I used to like Civics and Integras, but lack of torque and the stolen factor of it became a turn off. I do have a job, so whatever I intend on doing(which is meager anyways), I have the income to do so..albeit slowly. In the very, very future I want to have this as a DD and restore a Datsun 240z or 510. Unlikely? Maybe. Dreaming? Yes.

Here are the pictures. Excuse my 3.2 megapixel cellphone camera.

ORIGINAL mileage.. I had to email the seller if it was a typo. Sure enough, it wasn't.

I'll answer a few questions that may potentially come up..

-I'm very happy the way it is right now sans the hubcaps, but I'll bask in OEM glory for a good while.-Most I will do is stick the 4 lug SE alloy wheels on later.-I don't intend to molest this car. It's too beautiful and pure for some ***hole teenager like me to do it. Most I will do is Cibie/Hella lights, and maybe jdm signals. Kouki tails are in the far future.-Yes it's auto and I'm fine with that. No, I don't intend a manual swap.-As of right now, I could use a broadway, an alarm, a club, and new tires.-Right now I can stick my whole fist in the wheel gap, but I don't really care.

Questions of my own:- I know I should not use Armor All on the dash as the alcohol makes it crack. What are the alternatives?- The windshield washer fluid indicator light is on and I don't know how to reset it. Can anyone tell me how?- How is it possible that the car has a dual cam when it was manufactured in 6/'91?

Looks clean. My car started out as a "Fix when broken" car, now I have about $6,000 in it lol. Although you're car is about 1000 times cleaner than mine when I got it. Good luck my friend.

What about lowing it?

And the single cam was produced through 89-90.

Thanks for the positive words. I posted questions at the end of the pictures for you guys to help with me if you didn't notice. Also, I'll take pictures of the stickers saying Department of Defense on it and whatnot right now. There is no serious rust, but the area behind the front bumper has some bad rust (to me). It doesn't seem that big of a deal but I'll snap a shot of that as well.

Troskinator: No plans of that until these shocks are well blown and used up to their extent. Until then I'm considering either the Nismo S-tune spring/shock to maintain the stockiness or Koni Yellows and RSR springs. I'm not considering coilovers for this car. She doesn't deserve to be tampered with that much imo <3

$3500. Probably expensive to you guys..and yes, daddy bought it for me which I'm a little ashamed about. But I had to jump on this. I've searched craigslist for about a year and a half.

Oh yeah, forgot about your questions lol. Single cams were 89-90, if it has that "shark nose" bumper is has the factory dual cam. Pig nose has the single cam.

I'm pretty sure the washer light should turn off when you fill it up, but i'm not a specialist in that department lol.

I can't think of the name of the dash wipes I use, but I know meguiars makes a good product.

Awesome. I'd say its worth it. And its a plus when your parents buy you a car man. Im lurking on your thread cause Im bored and procrastinating my AP work... lol sorry. When are you getting HIDs?

You know, a broadway mirror? Those attachable mirrors that provide better view and are "jdm tyte"? A club? To lock the wheel? HIDs won't happen. If I do something I want to do it right. I'm incompetent as is, so retrofitting won't happen and I don't want ricer plug and play kits. It's either the Hella or Cibie h4 housings or nothing. The headlights are already replaced with bright Slyvania halogen bulbs so they work just fine.

Oh yeah, the broadway just slipped my mind lol. I know what that is. Never heard of a club, Ive just called it "that locking thing that you put on your steering wheel" haha. Good call on the security measures, 240s are amazingly easy to get into.

I live in a relatively good neighborhood. But thanks for ruining my sleep for the next few nights. I have already emailed Broadfield regarding alarms. You think a two way alarm with remote start is overkill?

Oh my bad, I just figured Hella's HIDs. Thats what most people pick anyways. But the lights you have in are good. And plug and plays aren't necissarily rice... but w/e each to his own.

Yeah, plug and play kits aren't ALL rice but when all I see are 6k or 10k HIDs blinding everyone on not very legitimate cars and not giving decent road lighting, I tend to always assume so.

Indeed. Basically, I wanted to show that not ALL young 240 owners are bad, and that I won't being doing stupid s*** like ruining my auto transmission purposely just to swap in for a 5 speed. To excel with the new, we must learn to appreciate the old. That's today's serving of moral fiber.

Here are the windshield stickers I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure this is a decent theft deterrent for now.

I know, but better than nothing.

Duffman: Most likely no, because our family has 6 cars.

And we're a family of 4.

Congrats on the new acquisition! Take your time, she'll be a beaut. You might as well ditch the stickers; they won't deter anyone who wants it...

I, too, have a 3.2mp camera on my phone. I love it!

Yeah I know, it was just a small joke..but I still think it's cool! And I should thank you Speedeast for having me go for this car.. Right now, since my dad did buy it for me, I'm only limited to keeping it stock anyway. I'll be scouring nico/zilvia/craigslist for those SE 4 lug alloy wheels and put them on 205/60R/15 Bridgestone Potenzas.. an "upgrade" from what I have nonetheless.

Additionally, I read that you are not supposed to use aftermarket lugnuts on stock rims. Different threading or something? Just wondering because I want to use closed lugs to prevent rusting on the tops of the studs.

Just a small bump.. spent 5 hours cleaning up my car today. It was raining hard yesterday and it was sunny today so might as well. My spare tire well was pretty drenched in water and had to clean that out.

Hit the valve cover with a cleaner and toothbrush.. it's a little cleaner.Did a nice wash and waxAND THIS s***! I had to dig it out by hand with a tool and took forever. Found it in between both of my fenders.. my right fender doesn't have a cover for some reason, so I just stuck a hose in it and washed it out. I found two alive roly poly bugs in there.
