Been getting 33 mpg for a while now, but...

Latest fill up: 11.146 gallons, 377.4 miles

33.859...close enough! 34 mpg.

That's COMBINATION city/highway driving, about half and half.

3800 miles.

Congrats We should see more and more people getting better gas mileage since companies have already switched over to the summer fuel formula. You may have notice the price hike over the last several weeks.

Just checked mine for the first fillup since the dealer filled it up and got 27.1 MPG. Only have a little over 500 miles on it.

Summer fuel is simply composed differently than winter fuel. In the winter, the fuel is composed to operate at low temperatures, but loses efficiency at the same time. A summer fuel is composed to optimize combustion and thus offer better fuel economy, without the worry of temperature. We'll see how my fuel fares on my trip upstate today, last time it was fairly good, hopefully I can get about 34 MPG.

I wonder if they have the summer/winter fuel in CA, esp So. Cal, the weather is milder than other states. Would love to get better MPG though. I haven't been doing to bad, I'm pretty satisfied with the fuel economy of my V.

What amazes me is this is still half city driving. Driving from light to light, stopping, accelerate, rinse...repeat. Will be interesting to put all highway miles on it once. Maybe a run to Los Angeles is in order.

All regions of the US have the different formulas at different times of the year. The EPA determines when they get released and the specific formulas. They are aimed at helping to reduce smog. The summer formula includes specific detergents to help the fuel burn cleaner. These detergents come at a price, which we see at the pump. I feel sorry for the diesel guys. The Feds forced all of them into this new ultra low sulfur diesel which is costing a ton of money. As of this year all of the new diesels have to comply with the regulation which pushes the price of the engines $5,000 to $25,000 higher.
