did you keep the bose amp ? I want to change my head unit because the cd quit working. I read you can buy a special plug that will adapt to your wire harness for for the BOSE system.thanks JP

yea the same amp. you jut get a wire harness for the maxima and if it didnt come wiht the RCA plugs just solder them to the speaker wires on the Harness and connect them to the Pre Amp out on the Head unit. also change + - on the front channels other wise the sub won't work

Nice looking setup. I replaced my Bose in my 2001 Maxima and the stock system did sound much better, although my sub starting hitting harder and rattling my rear deck which it did not do before. But I wanted more bass and that's a whole new saga. Maybe I will post some pics of my system when it's completed. I have to install my new front components and neaten up the wiring in my trunk, although it is concealed by a 3-piece carpeted wall. One added benefit of replacing the stock head unit was the additional storage pocket under the new head unit. I was really lacking a good place to put my wallet for longer trips. Holds the head unit remote nicely too. I don't miss my steering wheel controls at all. and they were occasionally not functioning on every button press too which was annoying.

if you have a Boomermaclou near by go there and you can get the Dash kit for $20 and the wiring kit for $18, an in the wiring kit into the speaker wires hook up RCA jacks and hook it to the Pre amp out puts in the new HU. The dash kit get the metra or the AI DON'T but the scoche (however you spell it) coz it might look nice but don't fit good. And to take the stock system out theres an article in somewhere in this forum good lick !D

Thanks for the advise. I am in Seattle and there aren't any Boomer mcloud around here. That sucks man; anyway I will keep looking trough the forums to see if I can find that other link. One more question, did you have any problems with the original speakers and the new HU? I have read that there are some bad connections or not compatible. Also what do you mean by this " AI DON'T but the scoche " sorry couldn't figure it out. Thanks for the info.

i think its the same wiring harness you use on the 04-07 jus install like a regular stereo no need to use line converters or pre amp out coz theres no amp

Hey, D_roc, what did you mean by "change + - on the front channels"

so i might be wrong, but after doing a lot of research i found out that you need to use PAC's ROEM-NIS2 wiring harness, because the way BOSE stereos are made is that the headunit will only send a super weak signal to the amp, which amplifies it then. Aftermarket stereos would sooner or later either fry the amp or blow the speakers. only my .20 from what i heard.
