Car is ITA for SCCA and PS2 for NASA, '89 SOHC.

Standard tire rack heat cycled prices.

Car came with hoosiers and I am hooked - we will see how well that fairs with the 2005 race budget.

Not yet, probably will be stored until my first SCCA national race when contigency from Hoosier is available. The used Hoosiers will probably be on until then. These will be stored in the basement to prevent heat cycling until then. Might test fit them this weekend but that would be it for now.

15X7 as limited by the car's racing class specifications, depending on the track 225/50/15 or 225/45/15

Offset is 17

The SCCA class is improved touring. The NASA class is Pro Sedan.

What kind of class is something like a 9 inch wheel with a 255 on it? I want to run a wider wheel on the track than a 7.5 width. Can you get those wheels in a 5 lug with a 9" width? Are they light?

Thanks,

Josh

They are fairly light, not the lightest but at their price and the wide unavailability of that size in the proper offset I am very happy with their weight which I think is 14 lbs or something like that.

You would have to look at what the class permitted specs are but I suspect it is going to be a much more expensive class than improved touring. Something along the lines of GT3 or Production - but then you are racing against bigger budgets. Or if you put in the SR20DET then you can run in NASA's SRX and use up to 10" wide wheels.

Classing and class rules do more than just attempt to put cars on equal footing they try to make it where participants can be competitive at a known budget level.

Prior to 2005 Improved Touring class rules did not permit threaded body coil-overs. The result is that many including the car I purchased used ground control set ups or did major expensive reconstruction (shaved off the threads and built a sleeve for their threaded body coil-overs). Finally in 2005 threaded body coil-overs are permitted. So courtesy of JIC-USA I picked these for the 240sx this year:
