Got leigh's engine bolted together yesterday finally. Was held up for a couple of weeks by piper loosing the exhaust cam sprocket bolts when they reground the cams.Couple of pics. Notice no oil pump as it's running dry sumped, and no water pump, using an electric one as that huge outlet on top of the block was going to be right in the way of the inlets. Thought on mine it might cavitate at 8500rpm anyway. The sump pan isn't the final one either, just something to keep the dust out for now. Looking like we're going to use an MR2 electric PAS pump too to keep the ancillaries simple to drive - just one belt for the alternator and one toothed drive for the sump pump.

Hoping for 100-120bhp/l and it's a 5.0l overbore. Time will tell!To be honest I just wanted NA drivability rather than the awful way the VG30DETT that was in the car deliverd, so as long as it makes more than that did it'll be OK. It certainly won't have the torque the turbo motor did low down, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

So, no FI for this motor?

What are you going to use for "management"? A tuned ECU or a standalone system?

VH50DE ... something seems weird about that.

No, absolutely no way! I'm trying to build a pure driver's car which to me means NA, RWD, manual and no electronics / traction control etc.I'm using an emerald ECU (standalone) as I'm not running the Q intake, but making up an IR manifold with 8 45mm throttles, so will be ditching the MAF anyway. Did look at using a factory ECU, but too much hassle. I spend a fair bit of time tuning them on VG30DETT's and it's nowhere near as easy as using a proper system. Lots of hassle to get the looms matched up too, and I didn't get the loom with my engine anyway.I don't know, I think VH50DE or 500ZX sounds pretty good

Yes, probably the best solution, until I can afford a quaife sequential anyway (dreaming).May use a 300ZX NA diff to get 4.1 rear end though.

Looks the goods mate

Did you have the block sonic tested / xray'd to see how thick the cylinder walls were?

Hey, he's using Fuel Injection.

Amazing how ambiguous those imprescise acronyms can be.

VH50DE sounds alright to me, and the valve area should support it pretty well. Absolutely love the pictures of something meaningful, performance oriented, and done correctly.

Body kits are about as exciting as too much mascara on an old working lady.

The block's been inspected, but I know they've been taken out to 4" (101.6mm) before without hassle (Mirage on here has done it).Valve area is actually almost spot on to support the capacity / HP estimates which is nice.As you're liking the pics, here are the dry sump parts:

But that was on a VH41DE, and I thought he sleeved it smaller. In any case, the cylinder mass area looks like it would be similar in both blocks.

Dry sump, yes! Keep the pictures coming, and best of luck.
