i finally got the speedo on my s13 gauge cluster swap working. i will say its nice having a speedo again after not having one for 2 months. but i like the s13 clusters way better than the d21's.

How did you get it to work I want to do the dash and gauge swap myself. I like the late 90 rounded stykle dash but understand the speedo is electric and mine is cable.

well mine is cable too and i kinda just bs the speedo part but it works for now. is your truck automatic or 5 speed? we have the same year truck so we might have the same wiring. if so i can give you a wiring guide.

* also i thought that i should tell you the cluster i swaped in is out of a 89 240sx SOHC

then you might be able to put the speed sensor where the spedo cable goes.

Thanks, yeah I was wanting to do the entire dash swap from later model pickup to get the more rounded dash. I had heard here that the speedo is electronic and mine is cable, also wondered if the wiring would need to at least be spliced to new connectors to fit the plugs on newer style dash. I should be able to rob a dash from my local junkyard as they get them from time to time but wanted as much info as possible before jumping in money and time wise.

yeah i would recommend soldering the connections. non of the wires will match up so you will have to work wire by wire. but i think its worth it.

Thanks that is good to know, I guess the easiest way is to chop off the connectors with new dash and splice it into my cable one wire at a time.

and also the clips that are in your truck will be too big for the newer cluster you want so make sure you get the clips that go WITH the new cluster you get.
