after a week of no sleep i finally got my car done(sort of) on Wednesday night. I need a catalytic converter before i get pulled over by the cops---no exhaust.

Turns out none of the shops in Cleveland like to make any custom parts. First the driveshaft shop absolutely refused to make me a custom driveshaft. I tried different ways of trying to get them to make me one but they refused. I had to order my driveshaft from New York. BTW, driveshaftshop.com makes great driveshafts, a little sucky on returning calls though.Next I took my O2 dump pipe to about 6 different shops and none of them would even touch it with a long stick. They pretty much told me to take my engine out and put the engine that belonged in the car back in to get my steering to stop rubbing. So, i just shaved as much of the DP as i could but it still rubs like crazy. I don't know what to do about that one.

I wired the R33 gauge cluster in but its freaking out on me. With the lights off, the battery warning comes on and the voltage that registers on my SAFC is down by about 2v. When i turn the lights on the battery warning goes off and the backlights come on. As soon as i start the car all the gauge lights turn off and the turn signals( in the dash) and the light that shows that the high beams are on both come on and stay on. The turn signals still work but their dash lights just stay on. Don't know what thats all about.

I have a few other problems that i'm still trying to work out. If anybody has any input/suggestions please help.

Sorry, don't have a digital camera, so no pics. I'll get some regular pics and scan them when i get a chance.

Thanks everybody for all the help.

i attached an old pic i had laying around [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

Nice work. Cleveland huh? I goto Cleveland alot and drive through it to get from Detroit to Youngstown. As for your swap I have no clue when it comes to S14's but here in D town anyone would love to make you a driveshaft. And for your exhaust problem SS autochrome makes a SS o2 housing that I believe is a little bit smaller that will clear the column. I've learned Ohio people like to drive with stock motors. The people you take stuff to just tell you to put the old motor back in it because they think youre crazy for even attempting to put another motor that doesn't belong into a certain car. If you need anything else though I can help.-Alex

If i had known i would have asked for a number from one of your local shops. One guy at a muffler shop told me that Nissans were not like old school Chevys so you couldn't swap motors. I couldn't even think of a reply for that one.

Are you sure about the SSAutoChrome housing. I wouldn't mind getting one if i knew for a fact that it would work.

Thanks

If anything Nissans are more interchangable than Chevys. I've seen small blocks, rotarys, obviously skyline motors in Nissans and so many more I can't think of right now. That guy had no clue what he was talking about. I could have gotten you like 4 different shops that would have taken care of your driveshaft. I don't know personally but from what I hear from my friend in ohio with an rb25 swap he says he bought the housing it was just like stock but it was divorced and wasn't as stocky as the cast unit. he said he had to trim just a bit off but he said he widened 2 holes in the flange to the turbo and rotated it a couple of degrees and it fit perfect. Plus its a perfect upgrade with the stock turbo. If I wasn't in a jam right now with money I'd buy it.

Did he use stock RB mounts and crossmember. I might just go for this coz i really don't have many other options. I thought about re-drilling the crossmember to move the engine back a bit but then i realized that i would have to cut my driveshaft or order another one, and i'm not about to do that. I'll look into the SSAutochrome housing.
