I finally got my 240sx out of the body shop after waiting 10 months. Unfortunately, the car suffers from paint chips, raised edges, rough spots, and areas that still show the old paint. I've tried working with the shop, but they do not want to fix their mistakes nor honor their lifetime warranty.

I paid $3400 for it and I do not think that the money I paid or the time it spent in the shop is reflective in the quality of the work. What is your opinion on this?

The complete story is located here

Pictures of the car can be found here

If you work at an auto body shop and would like to make a few extra dollars: I'm currently trying to chargeback the payment on my credit card, but my credit card company has asked for a written second opinion letter from another merchant. If you can easily prove you work in an auto body shop that is legit and you are willing to write me a letter in my favor, please email me at [email protected] and I will compensate you for your time.

OMFG, what a nightmare!! I hope this does not happen when I get my car repainted :(

However, I am getting mine redone the same color, so the problems should not be as obvious...

well thats unfortunate. I would do what RD240 and Black said, call the local news station, get them to do a report. And definitely call the Better Business Bureau.

Holy crap. $3400 and that's what you got?

Post the name and number of the shop - Before you do so, let them know you're a member of a worldwide Nissan/Infiniti club with almost 9,000 members. Perhaps that will help. Definitely a trip to the BBB is in order.

We could keep them VERY busy on the phone... :firedevil

I've already filed a complaint with the local BBB as well as this other place given to me called Bad Business Bureau. Either way, they only act a mediators and cannot do any harm if the merchant chooses to ignore it :(

The name of the shop? Its listed on my website:I decided to have the paint work done at Auto Body by Duie....

Googling up the name will give you all the contact info you wanted. That's if you were in a talkative mood.

Man, thats a bumer!! I went thru a guy that does work on the side and he did a super job with my body and paint. I have no orange peel or chips, we did 4 coats of clear and wet sanded. This only cost me $2,000. Granted he had no overhead, but I would definatly do something about your mistakes. Take it back to the shop and look into their warrenty.

I would definately dispute that kind of work, it took me 4 times going back with my Focus to get it painted correctly, but they were more than willing to help...but this place was in Houston. They may THINK you're asking too much of them but that is probably because they don't have the skills to do a quality paint job, get that on tape, then you shouldnt even need a second opinion from the credit card company, once they admit they couldnt provide the service properly they can't be paid for it....
