here's a couple of pictures. this car is pretty clean. i'm happy. it definitely needs some tlc. i'll put her in the registry some time this week - as i'm not sure whether it is or not. i'll also post some more pictures and give some more updates later when i've got some more time.

nice.. you wound up getting that one from Gravetolife...

Congrats! I'm sure you are very pleased. I think a little work and some paint will make for a very nice car!! That's a great platform.

Now you've got me motivated to get my silvia conversion done and mounted on the car.

Grats DeXter!! I know you've been looking hard for one. Way to go. Are you going to keep the silvia conversion or change it back? I kind of like it, if you had the grill and not the solid center "silvia" garnish it would look better IMO. Keep the pics coming of the progress. Grats again!!

thanks everyone. i'm pretty excited to have a good clean platform.

apparently this car spent it's life in georgia until it was taken to indiana around this time last year. it had a rough life though. it had an invader-type body kit that was molded to the car. there's still leftover glue/bondo/adhesive stuff on some of the body and there are a few holes from rivets. also, a lot of the interior is missing including the carpet and rear seats - which gave me a good look at the floor pans and they're pretty clean.

as you can see, it has the silvia s13 front end conversion. it also has a relatively new top on it too, but i think it needs a few tweeks as there's a gap over the driver-side door. speaking of doors, this has coupe doors on it right now. they're decent, but i might use my coupe doors instead.

it has a good 5-speed swap with the proper pedals and all. however, second gear is on it's way out. i don't think the wiring is all correct for the silvia lights or the 5-speed swap, so i'll go back over those when i get to that part of the project.

the engine is blown so that means it's a good candidate for a rebuild for snail duty

so, here's the plan... stage 1 anyway. keep the silvia front (for now).gut it, clean it and all that stuff. remove the engine, transmission, driveline. do a decent paint job. install the engine from the old vert (after thorough cleaning) and one of the ca trannies i have laying around - after swapping the bell-housing of course.swap in all the HUD stuff - dash, cluster, windscreen - oh yeah, i picked up a full HUD set a few weeks ago with dash, cluster, projector, harnesses and windscreen for $250. install the digital climate control - this guy sold me his for $25 - i just need new sensors. swap over the rest of the interior from the old vert. install the flip-up monitor from the old vert. install the wheels (sportmax 962's) and cat-back (ssa) from the old vert. buy and install - new radar detector (hardwired like my last one), r32 gtr center grill, cai (ebay), and oem vlsd (gotta find one).

this should be good enough to win a couple local car shows and catch a few looks from the locals.

i'd like to have it done by july.

we'll see how this comes along though. my wife and i JUST bought a house and started moving in last monday. we've been scraping, painting, cleaning, and moving stuff.

yeah yeah yeah, who cares about the house! I HAVE A 24X48 POLEBARN!!! so that needs to be cleaned and organized and then i'll have to move all my parts and cars in. i'm going to be really busy.

It's a bummer that the bumper is not an Aero version. It's with SMIC opening. Yeah, I'd definitely try to source Aero bumper.

first, thanks again for the support and the warm wishes! nico vert forum > any other forum ever
madcowvert wrote:what did you do with your old vert? did you junk it part it out?
neither. i just moved it behind the polebarn last night. once i get the barn sealed up and all the birds in there get "removed" i'm going to clean it out and start moving the projects in... i have so many dsm and s13 parts its scary. anyways, the old vert is going to be the donor for a lot of missing/hacked parts for the silvert.
94_240sx wrote:Yeah, I'd definitely try to source Aero bumper.
negative. i'm not going to spend that kind of money on a bumper that i'm not going to use. the car will be returning to usdm chuki before stage 3 in the project. true, that may be a couple years down the road, but this front end will do for now - once i get the lines straightened out a bit.
ishkabibble wrote:Though, a house is going to be more work than you think.
more work than i think... probably not. more money than i think... probably so. i've still got some financial stuff to get back in order before i can really dive into the house and cars. but once that's straightened out, these projects should move quickly - the house and the cars.

which vert? silvia or chuki?

if silvia: very. if i decide to sell the silvia front, i've allready got 3 local buyers lined up. if i decide to keep it, well, i'm not going to want to sell any of it.

if chuki: not very. i have an extra chuki front end along with what's on my chuki vert right now. however, would you really want to pay to have a fender shipped when you can more than likely find one local? just wondering.

ish...

i have to admit, i chuckled. i'll have you know, though, i've moved about 10 miles further away from the can/am border, so

i just posted a comment about not being canadian in that new female canadian vert owner's thread...

anyways, i got my first barn mod - a cat. no pics yet, i know we're all pix whores so i'll try to get one this weekend. i'm hoping the cat will chase/scare out all the birds that have been living in there for a while. i'm going to have to be a "bad guy" and pitch a few nests and close up the holes. i can't be having the nissan pigeons bombing my cars while i'm working on them... (you guys remember those commercials?)
