Well, my quasi-fiberglass box is almost completed. The project sat dormant for a couple months but I'm tired of having no tunes. Since the car is going to the Nats I thought I would finish it up.

The sub is a Kicker C10a. Internal space is appx 1.25cf. Sub amp is a Alpine MRP-M450. Front seperates amp is a Rockford Fosgate (seperates are JL XR650's). Caps are Stinger 1fa.

No, I don't want a booming system, simply something that has good clean sound. If the sub does not perform as expected then I will end up putting the TC9 in.

Now you just need to rebuild the whole thing out of fiberglass. Then you can put in the TC9 without having any suspension problems

I can use the TC9 in there as it is. I designed it with that sub in mind and simply need to increase the hole for the sub. I will be getting the passenger side rolled in a couple weeks so I should be fine after that. If the C10a does not "do it for me" I will swap it out.

And the box IS 2/3 fiberglass

Cool. Just put the damn TC9 in there though. None of this, "if this doesn't do it for me" crap. LOL.

THe TC9 is an awesome driver.

Then we can talk about building you a sub for the house. How does 110dB @ 15hz sound

Only if I want the wife to divorce me.

Now, granted, if i'm pissed at her that would be a great way to really eat her up......Full-blast low frequency tests

Actually, women seem to enjoy low frequency(<30hz) more then men. Wonder why

Seriously though, you'd be amazed at how much clean bass women can tolerate. It's just that they're used to the distorted crap that comes out of store bought subs

Mine would not necessarily have an issue with it as long as it does not vibrate everything in the house. Being that the sound waves are directed upward here, she would have a problem with it

Now, if I was in my 20's again, it would be a sure thing. Low bass response is far from my "want" list right now.....

Rear shot.....I'll get a front shot when I finish cleaning up the wiring...

So far, I'm pretty happy with it. Just need to make some adjustments at this point.

How about bass-shakers on the couch? It still gives you the tactile energy of low bass waves without shaking things off the walls or rumbling in other rooms.

Excellent idea. Unfortunately bass shakers have too much of a mechanical feel for me.

I honestly think that most women can tolerate much more ultra-low(<30hz) then 30~100hz midbass.

My GF is not the least bit thrilled about my dual SDX-15's without an enclosure. She's going to love it when I get my dual 9.5ft^3, 15.5hz tune enclosures built. She'll love it even more if I go ahead and buy a second EP2500, one for each sub.

*edit* She did say they had to be finished in a dark walnut and she'd even pay for the veneer! If I buy the paper backed stuff at Parts express, I'm looking at around 250.00.

I will have to wait till next year before I start on the new home system. Not sure what design the room will be since we plan on selling this house and getting another.

I really forgot how nice these gen-2 Kicker C10's are. Pretty strong and clean for a 10" sub.

When you do decide, there are a lot of helpful people at http://www.avsforum.comhttp://www.htgui ... yaudio.com

Hopefully by then, I'll have my subs and L/C/R's done, which should be quite robust. If so, I'd be happy to help you copy anything i've done. I'm sure PMQ will do the same with his 15" Titanic.

I can't without screwing the box up. It does not matter as all of it will be yanked out within a couple months anyway. I just wanted to finish what I started and have it playing for NOPI.

Width and length of the port sets the tuning frequency, unless you have a sealed enclosure like mine.

My box is secured with two pieces of metal strapping. I measured and cut to length, then I glued/wrapped it with the box carpeting to look better. I mounted one to the top of the box and one to the bottom then secured the bottom with a bolt and screwed the top into a body panel.

I've found that if you cover the entire portion that touches the carpet with the hook side of velcro it will be plenty secure

I cant really do that, the carpet isnt attached to anything either. i use 2 pieces of wood to keep it pinned to the seats but it doesnt look good and it's scratching up the plastic its touching. i was thinking about drilling a hook to the back of it and then running some metal chains to secure it
